Not sure what panel this has but it's 60hz, so the MSY asus deal below is probably better with IPS 75hz Freesync.

We have a ton of these in our office of software engineers.

Does a solid job there, and just ok at gaming and UI design.

If you're browsing the net 90% of the time, this is for you.

  • Can any of these QHD 2560x1440 monitors (or a 4k monitor0 be reliably set up for someone who just needs a larger clearer picture for browsing and email etc rather than more screen real estate - they want a larger screen with a clearer picture but don't want to make the move to a higher resolution screen if the result is that everything gets smaller on the screen . If the solution is to run the 2560x1440 monitor at 1080p, is there any point? Will it be a better picture than is obtained from a native 1089p model of the same size?I

    • What monitor are you coming from ?

I have a dell Ips 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz that I moved from to a Q3279VWF 32" 1440p 75Hz LED Free Sync Gaming Monitor (Only down side is view angle)

and needed the extra real-estate due to eyesight its awesome - everything is bigger clearer cannot recommend the upgrade enough(speakers would have been nice too)

Side note - if I could afford a better screen 32" 4k 120hz+ IPS or higher I would have brought that
I game (Fortnight STW) and and surf only on this pc
      cheers

      • Thanks; excuse our lack of knowledge here; they are currently using a 22 inch DickSmith Full hD TV/Monitor 1920x1080 for browsing, email, word processing, skype, file management etc but no gaming - the picture on the 22 inch is quite clear and they want to replicate that size and scale of picture but expanded to be larger on a larger screen. That is, they do not need more width or length on the screen but want everything to be proportionately bigger. in the stores, 27 and 32 inch 2k and 4k screens on display are not set up this way, but show screens that take advantage of the greater resolution and size by using smaller icons, greater working width etc - more real estate. Sales people so far have shown no knowledge or insight.
The choices seem to be (a) a 27 or 32 inch FullHD (1920x1080) screen or (b) a 27 or 32 inch 2k or 4k screen but set up through scaling or setting of resolution so that the images and text looks similar to (a). What we don't know is whether forcing (b) to look like (a) through scaling and resolution means the quality is no better than (a). What we also don't know is whether any problems with common applications will arise if we rely on Windows scaling - my own experience with an LG Full HD 23 inch1920x1080 is that scaling up the image in Windows randomly results in the 'tiny text' effect where at times text in some applications such as File Explorer is so tiny that it is quite unreadable until one or more restarts makes the problem go away for the moment.

        • A 27/32 inch screen at 1920x1080 resolution will look LESS sharp and text will be less clear when compared to the same size screen at higher resolution(2560x1440).

Basically the lower resolution screen will be using less pixels to show the same size picture so will look more blocky up close.

I would recommend not mucking around with Windows scaling as I've also seen crazy stuff happening with different scaling settings and different apps.
From my experience your best using 100% text scaling (the default) and set your resolution in windows to match your screen.

Then with the bigger screens (27 + inch) your text will be bigger and clearer

  • Will double check when I get home / but I see no difference in 1080 vs 1440 in size on my screen just better colour and less pixelated pictures
