Thanks OP this will assist in running away from all of my problems.

  • Are these available in store?

    • Yes they would be but not many of them are stocked in the retail shop.

      • Thanks Tom.
So many articles on your website I need to read first to select the right shoe!

      • Hi mate. Any good shoe for indoor sport like squash? Thanks

        • Anything with a low drop is ok for squash. We dont sell any 'actually' squash shoes though.

Just got back from the McCoy st shop.

The lady said that the $70 Saucony are only from the online shop, and the ones in the shop are the new models not on special.

Damn, was looking at a deal for some mizunos!

    Great prices though

  • Thanks, Grabbed a pair of Echelon 6 as mine are ripping through at the back. Seems to be a common thing with these shoes (or my foot in these shoes). Any recommendations moving forward for Trail shoes (2E sizing), I can't see to get anything that fits remotely well for a wide foot.

  • Awesome, two pairs of Guides ordered.

    Thanks OP.

  • Brought a pair of the ISO's, my size always screws me being size 14.

  • Anything in size 15? I always struggle finding shoes my size. :(

  • Hi Tom, Im just wondering if Saucony Freedom ISO Men's Shoes run true to size? would i be good for me to wear and work in a bar. Is any other recommendation? thanks

    • Hey Mate, we think you should go up 1/2 size they run a little small. Really comfy shoe for work.

      • Hmm my partner bought a pair of Saucony Shadow OG suede many moons ago in size 8, and they fit well. Should he go up a size in these?

        • I think it's just Saucony Freedom ISO in particular that runs small. Other Saucony I've tried (Kinvara, Ride) seem to run true to size. I wish I've bought my pair of Freedom ISO 1/2 size larger (except 10.5 does not seem to be available).

So yeah, go with 8.5 if available.

  • Cheers OP! Ordered some Echelons. Will see how they go with my flat feet & orthotics.

Not too long ago, I can't remember which university, did a study on running shoes. After testing hundreds of models and speaking with manufacturers, the concluded, and this was sustained by manufacturers, that between top model shoes and $10 shoes there's only about 2% - 3% difference.

    • +1

      You have the study?

      • Let me see if I can find it.

      • -1

Can't find the study. but here are a couple of things in relation to running shoes:

Top Nike shoes, only 4% energy saving

For elites, it might be the difference between 2 hour or 2hr4min marathon, i.e. huge.

Just look at the Tokyo Marathon last weekend — on the starting line for the elites it's pretty much all swoosh on orange, ie Nike VF4% FK. Either Nike has done very well in marketing, or the shoes are that good — likely both.

          • @scotty: Exactly right. For elites and marathons makes a difference. For the average bloke like me who can barely run 3km, I can't justify spending that much on a pair of runners.

            • @[Deactivated]: Obviously it's a waste for someone to buy VaporFly 4% to walk around, however plenty of people running 4hr marathon finding a good pair of shoes useful. Remember extra 4% efficiency at 4 hours is almost 10 minutes.

If you are only running 3km, depending on the pace you are running, a suitable pair of shoes can still give you comfort and less likely to get injured. Note that it's suitable/comfortable, rather than expensive.

I, for one, would love to read the study that compares top-end running shoes like the Flyknit Streak, Adios Boost and the Vaporfly 4%, against $10 shoes and finds only a 2-3% difference…

For the average bloke like me who can barely run 3km, I can't justify spending that much on a pair of runners.

Being barely able to run more than 3km's, you are clearly not the target market for high-end running shoes, and I don't understand why you felt the need to comment on this post advertising relatively high-end Saucony shoes. You would get much better value for your time getting outside and banging out more km's instead.

              • @lordsugar: yeah, sorry, running it's not my strong point.

I can do all sorts of cardio activity like bicke, canoeing, rowing, etc, but I just can't run for my life. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong. I'm currently doing 1km/4:20 - 4:30 and keep this up for 2.6km before needing to slow down or stop.

        • Nike dominates sponsorship for the top marathon runners and professional runners will nearly always have a shoe sponsor.

The shoes actually give more advantage to inefficient runners than elites but they aren't very durable so not a great idea to use as a trainer. There are much cheaper ways to cut that 10 minutes off your time like running more each week.

A lot of the cheap shoes put under the running category at large retailers aren't running shoes. Go and run 50km/week in your $10 shoes and see how they and your body goes. The top models (such as the Vaporfly 4%) are usually racing flats, not trainers. The cheap shoes in that article you linked to are still around $100AUD+. Your shoes have a lot to do with injury prevention.

  • Hi OP, are these all better than Epic Reacts?

  • Nice sale if you have a small foot.

Waiting for a sale on 11.5/12 2E size mens (hint)

  • Are there any running shoes that are not mesh at the front?

I find that when doing weights, my toes are pushing against the mesh and usually create a hole.

  • Dammit, I looked at this last night and they had the Omni 16 2E in my size, but just logged in this afternoon to put my order in and my size is sold out.
You snooze you lose I guess.

  • how long will this sale be on for?

  • Just skimming past and thought 'Oh, Bunnings Warehouse are selling shoes now?'

    ..wait a minute.. Oh.
