Start saving your 3.6 cents per day peeps

    • I don't get it, could you elaborate ?

      • +1

The deal was posted 28 days before it started. 3.6 cents per day for 28 days = $1 for this deal.

        • +1

Ahhh that makes sense, I didn't see the post date, or the deal when its posted… I guess ill start saving now for the next one! :D

60c cheese slices can be added to turn it into a Cheeseburger

    Can you BYO cheese?
They're 25c when you buy a pack of 24 at the supermarket.

    • +1

      Why not?

      Folks, this guy ozbargains.

    • +8

Stores won't allow you to bring your own cheese for it to be assembled by the crew.

      • +1

And I'm guessing you can't sit in the restaurant with food stuffs from outside.

        • +7

I imagine the vastly engaged staff will bother to approach your table and, embarrassed, ask you to consume your slice of cheese outside.

        • I have eaten Subway in a Macca's. I did have someone with me who ordered food so I didn't feel like a complete dick.

        • I don't know why you would be allowed to?

          • +1

@burgermaniac: maybe because the staff aren't stupid enough to alienate their customers by asking someone to leave for bringing in outside food when the person they're with has purchased from Maccas?

            • +1

@iluvpizza: @iluvpizza apologies, I was talking to Sage

              • @burgermaniac: yes i know, my comment still stands, that if you sit down with your byo cheese the staff are not going to bother you for putting it in the hamburger, nor if you bring other food in especially if your with someone who bought maccas!

                • +1

@iluvpizza: That would be ok. But purposely coming in without the intention of purchasing McDonald's food and using the facilities are pretty much a no-go.

                  • +1

@burgermaniac: I really doubt any staff aside from the manager would care enough to say anything, unless its a reeealllly slow day.

                    • +1

@Vinodra: Yes, that is true, and being a manager myself I can agree with that. However, crew often report to us of customers who haven’t purchased anything and are using and/or abusing facilities without purchase.

        • +2

You put the cheese slice on yourself …..even bring your drink ….. Getting one slice from home to Macca's for lunch seems a hassle …

    • +3

you can't get the right flavour with supermarket cheese. mcdonalds cheese is special.

      • +1

        mcdonalds cheese is special

It's so processed it matches everything. I guess it can be sauce or glue too - all depends of its consistency. They just decide to keep it a square semi-solid slice for burgers.

        • +1

you can get special burger cheese at supermarkets, i've tried it & its pretty close to the Macca's cheese

          • +1

@iluvpizza: The closest I've found is an Aldi brand, it looks and tastes quite close to McDonalds cheese.
The funniest thing is the brand name they gave it: "McDowell O'Donalds" :D

I'm not sure if it was just a one off/seasonal thing or if it's a permanent item but I've had a pack in my fridge for about 2 months now and it is still nice and fresh, obviously because it's heavily processed. Made in Netherlands or somewhere I think.

I'm personally not a fan of the Dairylea ones when it comes to being anywhere remotely close to McDicks, but each to their own.

        • So…. everything else is "round" to fit on the bun… why not make round cheese slices instead of buying their stock from the supermarket?

      • I think you can at Costco, in large quantities.

    • Sweet cheeses!

    • Supermarket cheese is a lot of tastier and healthy to, taste pretty much the same.

$1 bread with a sprinkle of beef meat - my favourite!

    • 30 grams of cow meat (1/10 of a pound before cooking)

      • 45g of meat

        • 1/10 of a pound before cooking = 45.4 grams
          approx 30 grams when cooked

        • Is the meat patty in the hamburger the same size/weight as one of those in the Big Mac?

60c cheese slices can be added to turn it into a Cheeseburger for a total of $1.60.

I know at many stores including the one I work at, the system doesn't have the option to add a cheese slice to $1 hamburgers, and we are told not to do it. Nothing against ordering a cheese slice separately though.

    • My store allows adding it separately then telling kitchen to honour it in the burger. CBD store, by the way.

      • Ah yes, mine is a corporate store in the VIC suburbs, probably more TA's when run by corporate!

      • At ours the customer has to assemble the cheese themselves.

        • +2

The cheese doesn't arrive at McDonalds pre-assembled?

    • +2

i had that problem, but they didn't tell me, i just opened my bag to find a hamburger plus a box with a cheese slice in it, i was like wtf lol. Plus its not the same as the cheese doesn't melt into the burger properly if you have to put the slice on yourself.

I find it hard to consider two days ahead when the Coles and Woollies specials are listed. But 27 days? Seriously?

Half the world may be a nuclear wasteland by then if things continue to escalate between India and Pakistan.

    • Maybe if we give them some hambergers they will calm down?

Could have got a medium drink for free aswell with Student Edge to wash it all down.

  • The mod comment saying not available in the app is no longer accurate, I can see it in my app.

    • That comment is referring to adding cheese for $0.60, I'll edit to make it clearer.

      • Oh my bad, cheers.

    • Adding the cheese is not available in the app.

Unrelated to this post, I succumbed to my kids’ nagging and took them to mcdonalds today. I noticed that the burgers were $1 and also I noticed that they didn’t taste like food to me at all. It seems that I’ve been having too much fried vegetables lately. That or they have started using recycled cardboard in their meat patties. Honestly, these types of deals are the food equivalent to the zappals electronic waste deals.

  • +1

Yeah I was quite unhappy when I went to get the 3 for $3 deal and it wasn't available.

Was planning on getting my free survey fries + my free student edge drink to go with it and changing it to a salad for dinner 😂
