[Students] Get $20 for Opening an Account with Unibank

111

Never heard much about Unibank although I know they're on many campuses which is handy for students needing easy access to their money.

There is a $10 joining fee that comes out of the $20 but they say they refund you this (Was told this at their Murdoch University branch) upon closing your account with them so you can technically earn the full $20.

And $20 for free is a nice benefit!

is this the first bank offer on ozbargain so far that requires you to pay them to let you store your money with them to play with?

    • Oops forgot to add that in. I was talking to them at their Murdoch University branch and they said they refund the $10 membership upon you closing your account so you can technically earn the $20 by opening account and getting the $10 and then closing account for last $10.

    • You're buying a share in the bank, it's a mutual, not a corporate big bank listed on the ASX.

  • Good find OP!

Just a funny site note, they're actually the same bank as Teacher Mutual Bank. Other than colors, website is identical.

Probably could use one bank's login to login to the other for fun, lol

  • Thank you OP, It's not the best bank bonus I've seen and I'm not going to sign up but they are interesting to read about. Usually $50 is the minimum needed to motivate me.

    • Yea same but thought $20 to a student is a fair amount. I'm currently waiting out hoping ING will bring back their $75 sign up deal but I think because of the publicity they have got from Barefoot investor they don't need to run promotions in order to gain customers.

      • I have been with ING for ages but I am closing my account, I don't like the new requirements such as making 5 debit purchases a month to get free ATM withdrawals and a few other benefits. I moved my pay into Bankfirst for $50+$50 with the $300 debit spend so I'm pretty much through with them, if they want me back they will have to do $75+ for me to consider.

        • If you're after a bank that offers the same benefits as ING but doesn't have monthly minimum deposits or other requirements you should check Macquarie out. I've been with them for a good while and they're excellent. Their savings is the only disappointment (1.10% after 4 month introductory rate ends) but Ubank is best for savings and couples well with Macquarie!
