We have carls Jr in Australia?

Do they have EXTRA BIG ASS FRIES?

    • +2

Only if you're not an unfit mother.

  • Carl’s Jnr is amazing. Love this place. Best part, QLD getting them first. Growing quick up here.

Best part, QLD getting them first.

Wrong! Carl’s Jr. opened its first Australian store in 2016 at Bateau Bay on the NSW central coast

QLD has more stores at the moment (8), Vic (3 & another opening soon), NSW (2), SA (2)
      Store locations

They're definitely focusing their attention on QLD.

        • Yes. Some overseas chains (eg Mos Burger) use Brisbane region as a testbed (less competition from similar established food outlets, possibly cheaper set up & rental costs) rather than the more established markets of Sydney & Melbourne. Then expand elsewhere.

And this chain's reputation in advertising may be more accepted in the land of Pauline & co😉 (they've got rid of those ads)

The new Glendale site is 5 minutes drive from me. I've never noticed a Carls Jr deal until now so that's handy. I've gotta say though, probably best to not eat there too often it's not the healthiest choice :)

        • +1

My rule is only eat unhealthy if it's free.

Ate a lot of free large (gourmet) Maccas meals with the UberEats code in last 2 weeks. The store is 15 min return walk - didn't even get that exercise. I rarely eat there - only with free or great offers.

          • @INFIDEL: That's a good philosophy. Most of the fast food I eat these days seems to be free or extremely discounted :)

We stocked up 4 of those free 1L 7-Eleven ice creams a few weeks back. Just finished those last night.

            • @Click_It: Ah, Ice cream🍧 I've pretty well given up on it, except for half price mango & macadamia Weis bars. It's a bit more healthy & limits intake.

              • @INFIDEL: I hear you. I barely had any it was mostly for the family (eldest daughter destroyed them). I limit my sugar intake so ice cream is generally a no no for me. I don't mind the odd Weis bar also, smaller portions as you say.

                • @Click_It: Drank up to 5L per wk of Coke No Sugar in heat last 2 months - previously only drank that much Coke per year. Now have a taste for it. Dr had suggested reducing sugar intake.

Developed an unbearable itchy rash around same time. Saw Drs, bought a lot of antihistamines & cortisol meds, but no one could find cause. I thought something was biting me - rash was around a white mark. Dr suggested fumigating house & taking biopsy😱

Temperature dropped, stopped drinking Coke No Sugar - rash disappeared.
Turns out I am very allergic to aspartame! A known cause of producing itchy hives.

That'll teach me for going off eating mainly healthy foods - and sugar😀

                  • @INFIDEL: Interesting, I know all about the antihistamines and cortisol meds, I have a condition called Dermatographia which results in the same hives. Specialists basically don't know what causes it and because the condition isn't fatal no research has ever gone into finding a solution, they just prescribe a lifetime of antihistamines and hope you don't become immune (been on mine daily for 5 years now). But I'm positive it's something in my environment that either caused it or continues to cause it. To date nothing I've tried has improved it but my diet is reasonably healthy.

Anyway yeah that aspartame is bad stuff. I've never heard of allergic reactions to it before but it doesn't surprise me, lots of chemicals are used to manufacture it apparently.

                    • @Click_It: Taking those meds for a lifetime - how horrible. But the condition must be worse.

I put on 10kg, I could barely see as my face blew up (which indicated a strong allergic reaction). The meds quickly dealt with that. Now am dropping 0.5kg/d!! Lost 5kg last 10 days.

I used to do research for a Dr in field of allergic reactions to food. So was more adept at looking for causes. But Christmas is a time when we eat & come into contact with strange things.

Will PM to keep discussion to the Deal😉

                      • @INFIDEL: Yes I had that thought too. Sorry for hijacking this thread folks :)

    Damn. I wanted 6.

    • +1

I’ll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.

      • +1

If you can eat your food, while everybody else is losing theirs and blame on you, you straight homie.

    • -2

      They don't use numbers.

      • Lol! A retailer that doesn't use numbers?? Priceless😀

So Maximum of 5 per person doesn't apply?

        • I don't think you get what this is in context to.

          • @PainToad: No - you don't😀

You replied They don't use numbers. to Damn. I wanted 6. So how do people order or pay without numbers??

The original comment seems to be in joking reference to the condition in the Deal Description Maximum of 5 per person. (5 is a lot per person🍔) That's why I added it in my comment.

So, as you likely replied to the wrong comment - your comment made no sense & is being downvoted.
            Thanks for the neg😱 I'll treasure it😀

  • Alright boiz.

I live in Croydon. The nearest one is in Knox, which is like a 20 odd minute drive.

I don't have anything on this week and can go there, duck into the Irish after for a bit or something, it's all good. But tell me, is it worth that 20 odd minute drive? Like are these proper good or should I not bother?

    • +1

It's just a better hungry Jack's imo. There are still better burger joints out there like holy heffa or the likes.

I drove an hour and a half from west syd a week after it opened in bateau bay, waited an hour in line and just before they served our orders one of the trainees triggered the sprinklers. We never got our burgers that day.

    • I would save the drive and trying to find a park at Knox and get McDonald’s $5 Chicken McFeast Meal.

      • Have to agree with this comment the chicken $5 deal Macca's has is cheaper and better I reckon! I just had the Carls jr deal , only plus is unlimited drink refills!

      • Finding a park at Knox is no problem; it's Eastland and Glen Waverley (Kingsway area) that have issues. But yeah the Maccas deal is better, plus can get it any time on the app.

    • I'm in Brisbane with 8 stores around me - all too far away to make the Deal interesting😢
Strategy seems to be to locate them in outer suburbs.

    • Well, thanks guys. Think I won't bother then, unless I happen to end up out that way anyway, though that's unlikely. Cheers.

  • So what makes QLD deservingly own Carls Jr and not NSW?

      • Who open its first NSW store down at Central Coast …… face palm

        • It's their strategy. Most stores are way outside CBD areas.

      • And when will Mos Burger open in Sydney? not NSW … Sydney Metro

        • QLD has has Mos Burger for years. Have some reasons above.

          • @INFIDEL: It's their strategy? ok

            • @tempura: That's what businesses do for their benefit, not ours.
