  • shipping $15.00 to sydney

    • $15 flat rate!

    • $40 shipping.

      • +1

Sigh… reps still don't get it do they ;), and neither do the neggers.

    • -1

Should be a flat rate of $15 Australia Wide.

      • +3

Why dont you put that in the title like you should http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:title_guidelines

If it is a flat rate rate then why say "Crazy Clearance at: $0.99 + Shipping."

Why not say "Crazy Clearance at: $0.99 + $15 Shipping"

        • +3

          My point exactly.

        • +4

Why even bother mentioning the shipping? If there is no facility to pickup, the one and only price is $15.99 shipped.

  • +1

    Shipping is $15

  • +1

    is it worth $16?

    • A BIG FAT NO. I have a belkin and it's a piece of crap. Useless thing. Dropouts every 4-5 mins.

      • I think it really depends. I have got one from my company, from the same stock and is using it for nearly 1 year. It never dropouts. I am using optusnet.

        • depends on what…interference, antivirus, what? Then what the hack is a router for. I had a belkin G+ before which worked excellent but then for some reason failed. Belkin gave me a N series in replacement and i have been having issues ever since.

        • +1

Belkin gave me a N series in replacement and i have been having issues ever since.

          Why not get another one?
The replacement they gave you could be faulty

      • have you tried changing your wireless channel? does it drop even when you're connected with a LAN cable?

        • yes it does but less often

      • Same here. But mine was a belkin modem/router for N adsl2+. The thing was light, grey, ugly—it looked like a prototype. And it was cheap as. Like 60 bucks from MSY. I bought it home, set it up. It worked, but then it kept on dropping signals. So, i updated the firmware. Then it stopped doing that, but still it did drop signals randomly (but less common). Its wireless range was terrible. I am talking about me being upstairs and the router downstairs, and it picked the signal up as being low. =S So, I used it for about 1 month, and kept on getting terrible speeds like 5-6kb/s downloads on ADSL2+. So went back for refund. Got my 63 dollars back (60 for the modem, 3 for the crap ritmo splitter/filter). Then I went to buy the TP-LINK W8960N, after receiving some advice from a friend who said it was cheap, looks awesome and works awesome. So i spared an extra 6 bucks and got that. And FINALLY I'm getting speeds at 20mb/s downloads. And, it even came with all the accessories such as a genuine adsl2+ splitter/filter. Phew! I would NEVER EVER touch another Belkin. Even when u ring up to ask for support, they keep on telling u to do one of two things. That is, factory reset, OR restart. Buyer Beware! Don't be attracted by Belkin's router or router/modem's cheap prices! U get what you pay.

        • so true. The support does nothing then to ask you the above 2 mentioned. In the end they send you another modem.

  • Tried to sign up and buy it and captcha got rejected 10 times. You can keep your router.

          That is a ridiculous comment.

  • decent price

    • +1

      but not the postage…

Aussie post satchel is only $6.30…

      I'd doubt i want to pay $9 extra to track a 99 cent purchase…

      • The box size is bigger than the satchel. We use eParcel instead.

        • +1

          a 3kg 405mmx310mm satchel is $10.70

          We use eParcel instead.

why would someone want to pay more than 99c extra to track a 99c item ????

        • actually i think tracking is $1.50 extra according to Auspost. though i agree that shipping kills this deal, especially since most devices are now starting to support wireless N. though their shipping cost may include handling costs as well, though I still dont see how this could be an extra $5-ish, especially if you're using you're own parcel satchels.

but i don't know much about eParcels, is their cost (or included services) somehow significantly different to a normal parcel? do you get volume discounts or special prices from Auspost for using them?

        • Is pickup available?

        • +1

          @Skinny
          You wish.

  • Can the rep confirm the model and revision number of this router? I'm interested if it is compatible with DD-WRT firmware.

    • BE702182224 ver. 3000au
      Not sure if it helps.

      • +2

that's not a model number - doesn't turn up ANYTHING on google

Is this an F5D7234? If so, what is the H/W rev?

      • Thank you very much for that! I'm afraid it isn't compatible, but cheers anyway.

      • Sure it's not F5D7234au4 ? That's the one listed on the Aus Belkin site

    • At best it has 8MB RAM and 2MB Flash, DD-WRT would be useless with that i would think.
I wouldn't touch Belkin to begin with, any model.

  • Not sure about the model (this one is G Series), but the deal is almost same as http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38408 (Model was N Series)

A big DISLIKE for the $15 shipping cost unless you send this in a gold plated box.
Why don't change your deal and say $15.99 with free shipping?
Or its Tax / GST related?

Anyway, still $15.99 is a good deal for a Belkin Wireless Router

Anybody knows the difference between this G series and the N Series (from that other deal)?

    • +1

Anybody knows the difference between this G series and the N Series

      802.11n

      vs

      802.11g

      perhaps ????

      • G. I think G is slower than N. But G is enough for me to view online movies. So I am ok with G.

        • N coverage, speed > G

          G maximum 54mbps.
          N maximum between 150mbps-300mbps.

      • +1

N is faster and has a wider range than G. However, you must be careful with N as there are two different band frequencies that it uses. One is 2.4Ghz and the other 5Ghz. Not all devices support both bands, a router/modem that supports both usually has the word "dual band" in its name or description, otherwise its generally 2.4Ghz. Most N devices are usually 2.4Ghz as well, though some people prefer using the 5Ghz as there's less interference on that frequency (e.g. cordless phones use 2.4Ghz i think).

Oh and then to make things even more confusing, the transfer speed can either have a theoretical maximum of 150Mbps or 300Mbps. I think this would depend on whether they have multi antenna. Though of course, I don't think any device is able to transfer at the theoretical maximum, despite what they advertise.

    • N is faster than G. if you have N devices.

      • The problem with this router with N is its not a proper implimentation of the N draft standard and requires other Belkin N products to get the benefit of N like speed/range. You probably dont want to use N, and G is the way to go.

BS deal, BS postage, BS website!!
Oldest trick in the book making money out of postage!!! NEG

    • +1

It may be to avoid taxes.

Just like Ebay sellers trying to avoid fees.

      • It has nothing to do with taxes.

If they mark the postage up by $5 then that $5 less the cost of the packaging materials is still part of what they pay tax on.

        • How does it work if they sell the product for less than what they purchased it wholesale for? Can they claim depreciation on the items sitting around in the warehouse or selling it at a loss (99c) ?

    • +11

Oldest trick in the book making money out of postage!!! NEG

Boxes, satchels, bubble wrap and postage materials are not free. Neither is the time is takes someone to package the item and address it.

If they charged you only what it cost to post the item then they would lose money.

I dont like paying extra for postage either but i understand why stores charge extra.

    • +1

      @ gimmie- you are wrong.

postage cost is more than just what AusPost charges. there's packing and handling as well, do you think the item just magically goes from their shelf to a mailbox or AusPost counter? Time is money mate… they are selling an item for 99c, and you think there's profit in that?

    • Couldn't agree more.

  • +2

Stupid captcha keeps rejecting, waste of time.

  • Heading for lunch now. Happy discussion! :)

yes. Other people has no problem buying it. fix you computer or browser then.

        • I haven;t tried…but i think your site not compatible with some of browser.

  • +1

Hi, it is a verygood price still however it can't beat this deal : http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38408
    Cheers

    • -1

Their postage should be around the same as ours because of it's size.
So it s a matter of G VS N and
      $0.99 VS $9.95.
I have to admit that N is faster than "G". But I am using G on optus cable and I am happy with the speed.

      • hi i bought 4 for 49$ including shipping , if i buy 4 from this deal it will be : au $64 .
so which one is cheaper ?!!! unless you combine postage then it will be a different story.
        Cheers

        • -2

          1 per customer only.

  • +4

so when you ask for refund, you only get $0.99 back? since $15 is shipping…WTH

    • I don't see how it's any different if the router cost $30 + $15 shipping. Or would you rather pay $30..

  • -3

really have to leave now. Cheers.

  • +8

This just in! Holden now selling the new Commodore for $0.99! ($39998 Shipping)

    • +4

      Pick up at dealer ship?

      See you in 15 minutes.

      • That should be dealer delivery, not shipping ;)

  • U have go to be joking. The claimed pricings don't seem reasonable. They probs got the shipping and cost of the router around the wrong way? =S

  • +6

Far out this site is full of whiney bitches. Who gives a crap how they've split price and postage, $16 delivered for a name brand router is a good deal.

    • +1

most of the time for refund policy, business only offer refund of the price of item not shipping. Hence my comment above.

      • perhaps this deal should be considered as "Goods once sold is considered sold for life!"

    • EXACTLY!!!! (@ d3ft)

As a total cost delivered, its very reasonable. People dont factor in other costs ABOVE postage.

  • +8

Why is everyone so freaking hostile? $15 postage for a router is NOT unreasonable. A satchel is like $11. $4 for handling and what not is not ridiculous. People are acting like postage is $40. Reminds me of buyers on eBay that complain when you've charged $3 postage and they complain when they find $1.80 worth of stamps on the package.

    • +1

Totaly right +1 , however +1 for stewy below for pointing to us that the website does not show an ABN number.
      Cheers

    • -4

      $15 postage is ridiculous!
You're not supposed to make any money from postage costs, by raising your quoted postage costs, the company is effectively being misleading!

      • How is $15 ridiculous for a ROUTER? Please tell me what postage cost would make you happy. You, like everyone else, is overreacting. If you want to complain about postage costs go to shoppingsquare where they charge $10 postage for a memory card!

      • if you're selling an item for 99c and needs packing, lining up at a post office to register it, and someone's time to do it all, I think $15 is very reasonable.

        • -2

it doesn't need packing, it already comes packed…

aussie post charge $6.30 for a 500g satchel and $10.70 for a 3kg satchel, so they are obviously making money on the postage…

        • Seeing as they'd need to use the 3kg satchel, that means they're making $4.30 extra. BIG WHOOP! From the sounds of it, you'd rather they not have the deal at all than see them make $4.30. You obviously don't use eBay enough. These guys aren't the only ones in the world charging more than the actual postage cost. If you'd rather not shop with these guys, I'd recommend shoppingsquare. They don't make money off postage at all :)

        • I think if you and me send 1 item, that is about it would cost from AusPost. When a distributed buys in bulk, the price of these will be much cheaper!

      • What about a $15.99 router with Free Shipping - would THAT make you happy? What about $5.99 router and $10 shipping?

Sheesh… it's under $16. They choose for marketing reasons to price it at 99c, why do YOU care whether they make $5 profit on postage or $5 profit on the item? It makes absoultely ZERO difference to you, so why whine about it?

This is a good deal. There's heaps of other totally useless deals that you could Neg before worrying about this one.

  • +6

lol shonky Catch of the day rip off…not even a ABN in sight on the website lol…

    • +1

haha yeah no ABN, sloppy spelling/grammar, immature faq sections (at least be funny), and the best bit:

"If you buy something you don't end up liking or you have changed your mind, sell it somewhere else. You may make some money and save everyone a hassle. If the item doesn't work, find out what you're doing wrong. Yes, we know you think the item is bad and faulty, but the item is probably working fine and it's probably your fault."

    • +1

      NO ABN PEOPLE
NO ABN BUY ONLY IF YOU DARE

      • There is no legal requirement for there to be an ABN on their website.

        Domain Name: clearanceoftheday.com.au
Registrant: WMC INVESTMENT GROUP PTY LTD
        Registrant ID: ACN 110081804
        Eligibility Type: Company

        • +1

yeah I know that…but I wouldn't buy from a site not having ABN, I just won't trust them!

      • its not mandatory to have an ABN mate, thats just for GST purposes.

if you reckon your business is under the threshold (I think its like $50k or something), then not having an ABN saves A LOT of redtape throughout the year (BAS statements and the like).

  • Well I've just ordered one of these as I need a spare router.

While creating an account - If you get a captcha error it will keep rejecting until you actually refresh the page! Tried firefox and IE and had the same problem until i manually hit F5 to refresh and it went through first go.

    Also they dont take AMEX

Will wait and see how it goes!

    • Based on the poor attitude of the Rep here, i hope you don't have any problems with your order…

      • +7

JV we know you dont like the deal fair enough but stop going on an on about it - move on for godsake.

        Get a life…

  • +1

I don't understand all the attitude here. OK so $15 is slightly more than the $10.70 their eparcel costs, but someone actually hs to handle it for one thing, and it's still dirt cheap.

If you need a g router I am sure this one would do the job.

  • +1

In the end though, your still getting this router for 16 bucks rather then 40-50 on ebay.

  • Think the price shipped is very reasonable. Excellent for getting on the web and not requiring speed between multiple N devices. Would be great for the mum-in-law's iPad.
