Need a New Dishwasher, Looking for The OzB Price

So, our old dishwarer (a Euro, no idea what model) hates us - when you start it on any of the 5 settings, it starts, makes noises for like 3 minutes, then skips straight to a constant beeping with the light flashing on the last cycle icon, and basically crashes.

Seems like 1 in 20 attempts, it might actually go and run a whole cycle…. and as it;s 8+ years old, I guess i'm just assuming it's fried.

Looking to get a new one, no idea what to get - Plenty of people say good things about Miele and Bosch, although as I mentioned before this one inherited a ghost it was problem free for 8+ years?

Seen a no name as cheap as $445 at Bunnings, and then on the other end of the scale seen some Asko's for over $2k.

I think i'm in the lower quarter of the bracket, household of 2 adults, 2 kids, can generally fill about half the dishwasher in a day once you include cooking implements (pot / pan / frypan / pasta strainer / etc), so sometimes i think a 2 drawer one would be good to do just half a load, but then i assume thats a wank and i;d be better off just running the normal dishwasher half empty, or wait an extra day to fill it up (which means I have to handwash my daily thermos every 2nd day).
* Love to hear thoughts and feedback on above situations and practises *

Plz help to find good unit, good price, good warranty, and even better a deal to get it installed and the old one cremated!!

TY in advance OZB!

Note - Physical size for replacement unit (maximum) - 600mm wide, 860mm high, unknown deep (Cavity space would be 570mm max, so that plus allowing for any hoses etc)

  • It's your water pump/water outlet -clogged

    • perhaps the pump, because the drainage seems fine - i've poured a 1l bottle of water into the drain, and it heads down no issues, and the 1 in 50 times it decided to run a wash, the full cycle completed with no problem?

      • This just in, i half pulled it out from under the bench to properly measure the cavity, but it got stuck about 2/3 of a foot out, so i shoved it back in

Don't know why, but turned it on and told it to try a cycle again (after it having a whinge 20 minutes before) and lo and behold away it goes for a change.

        posessed

Sounds like our Samsung.. It was the inlet hose solenoid that was knackered.
Wife called a few places for quotes, but they all wanted a $50 call-out fee… I took the punt on my guess that it was the inlet and bought a replacement for $70 delivered.
Back in the day this Samsung model was the darling dishwasher model of Whirlpool forums, DMS500TRW due to its having 3 spray spinners like the Miele and Bosch but for a bargain price (I seen to recall $600ish).
It's certainly been very good to us in longevity and the quality of clean and we would buy again.

  • Bought a new one not long ago. It was a bosch and works extremely well when using finish tablets and rinse aid. Good guys had it for $650 which I thought was reasonable

  • Are you in Melbourne?

There's an Asko factory outlet sale on this Friday/weekend.

I've also recently purchased a current model Cleansteel Miele from the Miele factory outlet for $780, came with full 2 year warranty. It was a customer return/demo but looked as new.

Having had both Asko and Miele, the Miele is quieter but I'm not a fan of the cutlery drawer, give me a basket any day.

      OP Profile says:
      Location
      Sydney

      • Well that's too obvious isn't it! lol

I know there are Miele factory outlets in other states, so worth a look.

  • bought a cheap whirlpool from masters for my old house. it was ok-ish.

one issue was the standard Maxwell and Williams dinner plates didn't fit in to the main rack as the spinny thing would hit them and stop.

had to place those plates around the edge - annoying.

in my new house we have a LG direct drive . a much better machine - plates fit no problem. love the cutlery rack. cleans extremely well compared to the Whirlpool (I use finish Quantum max tablets)

  • Update, bought a Bosch series 6 from Bing Lee

Had them knock down their 1189 price to match Appliance's Online 1069 price - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/bosch-sms66mi02a-serie6-…

They also quotes $120 for delivery, install, and takeaway of old unit, however then advised they would not have ours in stock for delivery for a week, so we got their delivery and install price halved to $60, and they threw in 108 finish powerball tablets in a gift pack also, so I feel like i got a OzBargainer's style discount.

  • Just got out of the biz of selling these things a few months ago. Hands down go Bosch. Best value for money. Asko & Miele you pay a premium for as they are agency products for all the retailers aka. the price is the same all around. Look for the German made Bosch's if you want a good deal. They typically sit around the $1000 mark. Good luck buddy.

    • What is the best dishwasher out there atm mainly just looking for all the features like self cleaning or any good sturdy build ready for rough using almost restaurant like.
