    Barefoot investor

  • Recommend 7 Habits for wide-ranging personal development material - it was the basis of Covey's thesis.

Have read/skimmed most of the others.

essential reading to start or increase your knowledge in finances and business

None of the list will - basic or simplistic info or try to challenge conventional wisdom aimed at unsophisticated readers.

Recommend the Australian Financial Review, Strategy/Strategic Management textbooks with case studies, Harvard Business Review, management consulting papers - hard going initially, but the best way to learn if you're serious.

Thats also on the list, i forgot to write it down!

  • If you only read the books that everyone else is reading , you can only think what everyone else is thinking and that's not how you become rich.

    • i never said anything about becoming rich, only increasing knowledge.

      • Still applies :) A good book I've re-read recently was Mindsight Not business or finance literature. It's more about the workings of the brain.

        • yes, they do go hand in hand

and like you mentioned, most of it is a mindset. its not enough to just know how the stock market works. its also being able to ride out the tough times, to keep going despite setbacks or failure
