Was looking for a fan. Seems like a good deal for a Vornado 533.

  • this is the smaller size/model, right? almost bought….

  • can't recommend vornado enough they're insanely good. and on low they are pretty much silent running. worth the investment for sure

have you used a 533? I have the 660 and that's not really silent on lowest spin - I love it for the living room though.

Good fans but so noisy on anything but the lowest setting. Would not be practical in a bedroom when your trying to sleep.

I would recommend going for a DC motor fan instead, so much quieter and decent power also. Have got the Kogan model and although it is larger, it blows away the Vornado.

    • I agree that I'd prefer a DC fan, however at home we have a Vornado 633 (in between 533 and 660 size) and run it on high or medium most nights in our bedroom for some white noise and a gentle breeze, and we love it. My partner is a pretty light sleeper too, but everyone's different I guess.

I have both the 660 and a Kogan version which is slightly smaller (may be around the same size as the 533).

They both do more or less the same thing but I'd go with the Kogan one - it's only $59.00 with free shipping, comes with a remote, rotates up/done and left/right - https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-dc-motor-circulator-small…

super quiet on low speeds but both a fairly loud at the highest speed.

    • Can the Kogan one rotate up and down at the same time as left/right ?

Seems handy for one of my rooms if it can

      • Yep, it sure can. I was suprised at this feature as well :)

    • Thanks mate - are you saying the kogan one is the same as 533 in terms of output or it can even match the 660?

      • +1

Yea i reckon the kogan one is more comparable to the 533 in terms of output. the 660 is more ideal for bigger rooms.

        • I've been eyeing the Kogan DC fans. I'd love to put them on a smart or timer adapter - you can't do this with a Dyson as you have to turn them on via a button. Can you turn the Kogan fan on, and then use just a power point switch to turn it on and off? If so, I'm sold!

        • thanks mate, sounds like kogan's one is the go then :)

    • Cheap high speed rotating metal from kogan. Woot. I'll see if my health cover includes severed limbs. Thanks.

      • I think the whole thing is plastic from memory, I'll have to check it when I get home lol either way, I haven't lost a limb yet :)

Does the kogan create a column of air as I'm led to believe the vornado does or is it dispersed?

    • surely the kogan one don't generate vortex too?
