100

What can I tell you? Four for those linked sliding trolley bags. They're blue. They have Aldi written on them.

True oz-bargainers would still have the OG grey plastic bags. Store in car, load up trolley, load up bags, return trolley, use as bin liners

not sure if it is done by "true ozbargainers" or "asian ozbargainers" but I definitely do this! i even have a grey bag in my laptop bag so i can shop anytime without paying for the reusable ones

How is this supposed to work?
There is so little space after the scanner at ALDI, you can't even bag your own groceries, and are supposed to put them back in the trolley, then take to another area for bagging.

Do these somehow save all that wasted time?

I would like ALDI for a few items, because you grab what you need more quickly than the bigger supermarkets. But then I risk a huge line for the single open checkout, and no self-serve. Are other ALDI branches the same?

Click thru and take a look. Groceries go in trolley, then on check out belt, then slide bags down trolley, then put in bags as scanned. This is not rocket surgery.

what's a rocket surgery? those people must be paid millions for doing both rocket science and surgery

      • I can see it being that simple if you are mostly buying drygoods.

With fresh food, you can't just dump the heavy food on top of the fragile. You need to sort while scanning, and even the Coles checkout operators can do this.

On reflection, ADLI mostly sells drygoods and frozen food, very little fresh, so fair enough.

I usually sort my shopping as I place them on the belt

How is this supposed to work?

As the items get scanned by the checkout bloke, you place them in one of the bags.

      • -1

It cannot just be me who has a problem with that. They have a separate "bagging area" and people use it.

Is my store different to yours?

        • +1

you only have to use the bagging area if you arn't quick enough. every aldi i've been to has a cutout in the counter after the operator console to sort of dock the trolley in and throw the stuff quickly into it. all you'd have to do is categorise it by bag - put all your delicate stuff in one bag, dry in another, cold in another, fruit and veg in the last one.

Also don't act stunned when asked to pay for it, we're all waiting in line behind you to get served too

      • Thanks Turk!!!
But that still does not show how they are used. Does he fill them at the checkout without holding up the line, or in the bagging area?

        • Checkout area. Basically throw them back into your trolley bags as the checkout operator scans them. Its the only time the operator lets u back ur bags(trolley bags) at the checkout

  • Convenient but $20 equates to a fair amount of groceries.

    • Yeah agree, seems a bit pricey for what is is…

      • +1

Cheaper than on eBay though, that's why I posted it.

How considerate of you to hold everyone up on purpose. I think there's a name for people that do that.

      • -7

Just doing my bit. Your welcome ;)

    • +1

I reckon you're slow at much more than Aldi

    • Why the downvotes? He only saves 50-70% ($100-$150) on his weekly shop and Aldi's bagging methods costs him 3 minutes of his life.

3 minutes that he could be not using his BMW's $900 factory-optioned indicators and not thank-waving drivers for letting him in.

Just use 4-6 of those thin zip up cooler bags everyone has… easy.

I put ice bricks in 2 of them before i go to the shops, bundle them up and carry them in, put them out in trolley, sort as you shop -> dump the bags out onto the belt, and just chuck the stuff in the corresponding bag as the operator scans it. Its easy!

    • Yes. Why pay $20? Bought 4 for under $5
@$1.24 ea 3 months ago. Woolies replace if damaged.

These are insulated, have zipped lids so nothing spills in car, stand up by themselves, easy to sort into & use in trolleys, very small store branding.

4 reusable bags for $20…. think I can easily place 6 of woolie's green bags in a trolley to do the same… for $6 and lifetime warranty seems better deal.
