The Canonical Gospels are constantly under attack. Some claim that they’ve been copied from earlier myths and legends. Others allege they can’t be depended on for historically accurate information. Still others argue that scribed changed the text so that we no longer have what the authors wrote. How should Christians respond to these claims?

Craig Bloomberg is an academic scholar (PHD in New Testament studies from the University of Aberdeen). Most of his work is only accessible at an academic price-point. I would call this a bargain.

The book this content would be based on is around $30.

      • Some of Credo Courses goes in a lot of details. Which can be difficult to find for free. You might find a more condensed version for free. Everyone likes to listen to different theologian/apologist. Let assume James White has something similar free for 30 hours. No way I will listen to James White for that long. Whereas, others like James White. James White materials will not be a bargain for me but might be for others.

    • While he does indeed have a proper degree from Aberdeen, he is employed at an evangelical seminary in Denver.

      • Much of what we know about the Holocaust is thanks to the dedicated work of Jewish scholars, many of whom were its survivors. Should we dismiss their work because they were biased and had an agenda?

Not to say ignore the person behind an argument, but there is no such thing as an unbiased or agenda-free one.

        • I hear what you are saying. I'm not outright dismissing him.
But windsurfer brought up his credentials from a respected institution, while he actually works at a purely religious one.
There are of course many fine universities owned and run by churches, (even Catholic Universities here) but the Denver Seminary is not one of them.

There is a severe conflict of interest between the tenets of his church, and genuine academic inquiry. If he was C of E, that would be different.

  • hmm propoganda should always be free.
the value is in convincing people to your point of view, so you can profit off them in other ways.
seems like they do the same as other retailers and bump up the price to make youy think the product is valuable and therefore give it more credence/value. digital so it is not even like there is any physical book or dvd to add real world value.
research done by a non biased 3rd party might have some more value, otherwise do your own investigation rather than just taking some guys word for it.
anyone who buys this was most likely already in the same frame of mind and just needs to find an excuse to accept it.
this seems like a bad outcome to me on the mental health level.
plus supporters seem to be using the same old scientology style tactics to switch things around and make it about them being persecuted rather than offering up valid support for their views.
i dont have problem with people being of any particular religion, but i dont like it when i feel they prey on the weaker members of society.
so on that basis i reckon this is ok to neg.

  • Soooo many negs… It's a neg-a-thon bonanza.

  • Thanks OP, I've heard Dr Blomberg speak in person, he is the real deal.

For the neggers, I suggest downloading the course and and listening to the arguments with an open mind :)

  • Deal Expired. Freebie no longer available.

    • It's still available.

  • Does everyone know and understand why Jews don't believe in hell?

Because it wasn't until Jesus that the idea that everyone would suffer by burning in agony for eternity came along.

I mean, it's 2019 and society has progressed pretty far from the ideals spouted by a goat herder who couldn't read, but for some reason there are still people out there who want to spread commandments and messages such as executing rape victims, such as in Deuteronomy 22:23-24 - If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

There are so many free courses posted here for actually improving yourself as a person, whether it be technically or socially. Do you really want to be part of a group of people who have spread despicable messages like the one above for nearly 2000 years, and see no issues in trying to get government funding for schools to continue to spread it?
