  • I would have thought 34" would be too wide for VA. I have a Saumsung HG70 27" and I can just start to see colour change in the edges if I move my head a bit side-to-side.

Maybe the curvature helps a little bit with keeping the viewing angle tighter.

    • Yeah.. but "$539"

    • I'm using a ASUS XG35VQ inch VA monitor at 35 inches and don't see any colour shifting. Then again the ASUS is a $1k monitor.

Not all VA panels are built the same though, some VA panels are better than others.

    • Depends on the panel. I've used a 49inch and 55 inch Sony TV's that have VA panels as a monitor. 49 inch had barely any dark edges only on a complete white screen it showed fractionally on the left side. 55 inch was perfect, nothing at all but they are worth alot of money so I guess you get what you pay for.

  • In at 300.

  • Does anyone know if this runs without issues with a NVIDIA 10/11 series card now that they have updated drivers to be compatible with freesync monitors?

    • I'm also wondering if there are any issues.

All I can find is this guy saying it works, in the description of his video.

Hey that's me! Yeah the freesync works with my 1080ti without any noticeable issues. As long as you can keep it above its range of 45-100fps it'll work fine.
I did find it to be extra choppy when it'd go under 45 frames using free sync so you need a decent graphics card to keep it above the threshold.

During the brief time using the Acer XV273KP (certified gsync-compatible 4k hdr 144hz) freesync wasn't exactly flawless either. I get occasional lines and brightness flicker especially when frame dip below 48fps then lfc kick in hard. So even a certified expensive freesync monitor may not work well in all games… Eventually I bought back a gsync monitor that I sold months ago. Things just work out of the box. These freesync deals are so tempting I keep having to remind myself of the bad experience.

      • From what I understand freesync is just really hit or miss. I just got a Samsung CHG70 and it works really well with freesync on an NVIDIA card, but I've read other monitors handle it poorly. Check the reviews before you buy.

  • hmmmm.
I have 2 Dell U2713HM wondering if I should upgrade to something like this?
admittedly my poor graphics card (gtx 670, I had 2 but well one died at the same time as the motherboard) won't be able to handle it anyway, so maybe I should get a new one of them first.

    • what's your view on this Dell model # S2719H for work purpose:

      https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-27-monitor-s2719h/apd/2…

      • honestly can't tell you.
when I bought them they came colour calibrated from the factory and various things like that.
apparently this all changed the next model they released, cheaper, no colour cal, reviews I read when a friend asked suggested the older model was far superior.
this was many years ago (2013 most likely) so things may have improved.

  • Anyone got any first hand experience comparing VA to IPS?

    • +2

Yeah I bought this monitor, I wouldnt use it for any serious photo or video editing but it looks vibrant and "pops" probably even more than my IPS.
However input latency is not the fastest and it has some ghosting, mind you it still shits on even the best tvs but if your really into esports games might be worth looking elsewhere.

But I love mine if that counts for anything…

      • Thanks for the feedback. Do you mind if i ask a couple of questions?

        1. How's the backlight bleed?
        2. Do you find compared to IPS the ghosting is really bad?
        3. Does it work well with Gsync?
  • Would this be suitable for 1080p playing MMO's like FFXIV/WoW?

One of my monitors died and I'm in the market for an ultrawide.

I only have a GTX 770 which is enough for Low/Medium settings on 1080p, but I will eventually upgrade to either a 2060/2070 GPU to take advantage of 1440p.

Looking at alot of other alternatives for gaming, these types of monitors are going for double the price which I'd rather not have to splurge out for.

  • $558.99 total with the $19.99 delivery to Brisbane FYI

  • Had one for half a year but not used much. Would like to sell if anyone's interested. in Melbourne.

  • Just bought this… the stand doesn’t tilt at all??
