I'm pretty certain it will just be free to play, not to keep. Even the wording in the title implies so.
"Play" for free, not "buy" for free
Still waiting for the DLCs to finish so I can finally buy this game :(
Same here!!
Also the Europa Universalis and HOI series…
Man they can never finish releasing new DLCs
Yeah waiting for a complete version for cheap to finish upgrading cos DLCs are just way overpriced..
Is it possible to "clock" the game during this time period?
Civ is a game that you don't really clock. There are infinite possibilities; it's like a game of chess, same ingredients but the cake will never be the same. If you are asking could I finish one possibility in the time frame, then yes, easily.

I don't know what kind of chess you're playing but it sounds tasty!
You must be new to civ. One does not simply 'clock' this franchise.
sure you can finish "a game" in that timeframe.
to increase chance of success, have food & water, a bedpan and rollaway bed next to the PC
Just one more turn…
…Next minute it's 7am and time to start getting ready for work
not sleeping the night before is the key to arriving at work very early =)
You've described my weekend playing total Warhammer… One more turn clock hits midday oh no. What have I done. Rip sleep cycle.
Are u asking like if we can set the clock so as to allow us to play the game beyond the free weekend?
Thanks for this. Can you use mods etc during thr free play period? any suggestions ?
Um, play the game?
should be able to use any mod published to the steam workshop. or even offline ones from civfanatics will also work
Few days should be enough to get through the tutorial
wololo
Play Age of Empires for free!
Just had a look at the Steam reviews and if the EULA is as some of the reviews have described, then it's a big no for me.
The information we collect may include personal information such as your first and/or last name, e-mail address, phone number, photo, mailing address, geolocation, or payment information. In addition, we may collect your age, gender, date of birth, zip code, hardware configuration, console ID, software products played, survey data, purchases, IP address and the systems you have played on. We may combine the information with your personal information and across other computers or devices that you may use.
keep reading, it was reverted ages ago. Try not to assume the worst…
I'm not sure whether it was just a hiccup ages ago. The following three reviews are quite recent. The first one may be a bit sketchy in itself, but the next two are from players with substantial hours recorded.
If it's not the real situation I'm happy to be corrected and will include the game back into my wish list, though I will probably wait another few years for a copy from GOG.
I can't find any info about this to confirm if it's free to keep forever? Given they're having a sale to buy it at 70% off, I'm guessing you don't keep it :(
