  • How do we purchase them?

    • +2

      In store only in Vic and NSW

    • Thank you, updated the URL - no idea how the Facebook URLs work.

    Works out to $24.50 per ticket if you don’t count the $20 of food/drink you have to buy. Still a great deal. Vouchers are unrestricted too. Deal should probably have [VIC/NSW/QLD] on it.

    • Thank you, updated.

  • So can use for any session, any day? Nice

    • Yeah you can, I just don't know if the actual voucher itself has an expiry date on it or not.

      • Mine expires 31 March 2020. Food voucher expires 31 Dec 2019.

    What does $10 get you at the candy bar these days?

    • Small combo probably

    thanks op, now just gotta find a valentine…

  • Can anyone confirm the expiry date?

    It is not a "decent deal". Groupon sells Gold Class Tickets for $25.

    • +3

      Apples and Oranges. The groupon deal has several conditions:
      * Feb Only
      * $5 surcharge Fri / Sat Nights
      * Can’t use on Valentines Day
      * Can’t use at Village Cinemas

      • OK thanks for the clarification.

      • Gold class is the one where you can order foods and drinks right?

        • Correct. They can bring it out to your seat and they have more premium offerings than the normal candy bar offers, including alcohol. You can still get the basic popcorn and soft drinks too if you so desire.

  • Still so expensive I still remember local cinemas charging $6 per tickets in the 90s, sure things gone up a lot.

    • There was no Gold class in the 90's not sure what your comparing it to. Also heard of inflation? anything that was $6 in the 90's would cost more now

        Still expensive though, food is ok to average but overpriced. You are literally paying a premium to get rip off even more.

        Most Hoyts have recliner chair for all their normal theater. Seat are wide and comfy. Ticket can be as cheap as $12 at some cinema. I normally pay $14 at my local using optus perk + you can bring your own food and drink as you like. At least with Hoyts Lux, you get free popcorn and drink and i still wouldn't go there.

        • Hoyts has a complete ban on all outside food/drinks, which pretty much every cinema has had forever. Your local definitely isn't the norm.

          And it's paying to not be in amongst 300 people, and have to-your-chair service. I'm someone who only goes to the cinema a couple of times a year and it's totally worth it for me to enjoy the film and not be surrounded by morons.

          Considering cinemas are generally expanding gold class and have dumped things like cheap ass tuesday, I'm not alone either.

          • @freefall101: I have been to 5 hoyts in Sydney multiple times, namely Bankstown, Wetherill Park, Eastgarden, Broadway and Chatswood and once in Tweed City. Not once have the staff there even make a hint that i cannot bring in outside food. I have always been greeted with smile, milk tea in one hand ticket on my phone on the other.

            On the contrary i have been harrass over something as essential as my own reusable water bottle at Event. It wasn't even my intention to bring the water, i just happen to finish class and the water was in my bag.

            May be it is difference in Victoria or you just never been to a recliner hoyts to realise you are paying a lot more for not much better experience.

    • How much did you earn back then?

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/436650
      It was $6.12 after 15% cashrewards and 20% off Groupon.

  • No village gold class in CBR so makes sense.

  • Anyone who pays $25 to see a movie in a reclining chair is not a true Ozbargainer.

    Lets not forget the $6.70 booking fee for a computer to process the sale for 2 tickets.

    • Its outrageous and nonsensical isnt it? Booked mine directly at the box office.
