Not very good specs for $1820 price point.

The previous deal for the HP Omen 17 inch had a GTX 1070 + 120 hz display for $2000 dollars (an extra $180)

Doesn't seem a great price to me given old processor, no SSD and older and mediocre graphics card.

  • Stay away from HP laptops that have 7700hq with a dGPU in it.

The CPU throttles well below base clocks, only getting around 2.2ghz if GPU is being used - google current limit throttling HP 7700HQ. No other manufacturer presents these problems with a 7700HQ and dGPU. Despite being aware of the issue, HP has not provided a BIOS fix in over a year, and screws their customers over with warranty repairs/replacements.

Go for a brand that doesn’t screw their customers over and will actually have the performance advertised..

    • Have u heard of this issue with the i7-8750H series?

I have one of these, it boost fine to 3.6-3.8Ghz

      • Yeah.. when the GPU isn't being used.

It's a known problem. I'm one of the many people affected by it, and downvoting my post because I negged the product for a known problem is unhelpful to the rest of the community, people should be aware of the potential problems they will run into if they purchase this and how unhelpful HP support are at dealing with it.

  • no ssd for a $1800 machine lmao. no thank you. i'd pay $600 for it max.

yeah ok… good luck finding a laptop with a 7700hq and 1050 with 16gb ddr4 ram for $600 brand new..
Its not worth the $1800 but be reasonable… its worth more than $600

It's a portable desktop to replace bulky desktop. :). Price looking good

  • If you want a laptop with similar specs, take a look on the Dell Factory Outlet. They currently have a few G3 and G5 laptops that are quite a bit cheaper than this.

    Here's an example: https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/ProductDescription?cfID=B5…

Happy to comment further on the Dell Outlet, I've bought a ton of stuff from them over the years and it's all been top notch.

    • Around xmas I saw a Dell G7 15" with 1070, 8950H, 16GB, for about $1300 minus some discount vouchers. After cashbacks and vouchers, I'd say it will be about $1000.

      • I picked up a G7 with similar specs to that 3 weeks ago for $1200. Makes this deal look pretty sad.

        • Well, the defense is that G7 is a 15" series while this HP is 17" so not apples to apples.

15" is better for me than 17" though.

    • Do they sell those laptops with brand new batteries ? I mean the DEll outlet

  • Not decent deal. Nice try OP though.

  • $1819.20 for a 1050 and hdd only? That's way too much.

  • wut. I got the lenovo legion deal (albeit 15.6 inch) for 1100 on ebay. i7 8th gen, 16gb, but only 128gb ssd and 1tb hdd.

    Terrible deal!

  • It is not a bargain but scary saving from RRP.
Thank you OP but this labtop is a little bit dated and RRP price seems like from 2017…

  • for that spec? That is a rip off price.

  • If I'm not mistaken, this model does include a 256GB SSD - scroll all the way down to expend the specs and it's listed there.

  • I picked up one of this from Facebook marketplace for $800, it had 128GB ssd M.2 Boot and 1TB HDD, swapped the HDD with 2tb SSHD. good times
