    Theres also this for $2,039.15. 8th Gen i7, 144Hz IPS screen, GTX1070, 16GB ram except its 15in.

    • Thats an even better deal.

      GTX 1070 Max Q though

      • So basically full desktop GTX 1060 6gb. Max Q performance means go down a card number and it is that numbers full desktop equivalent.

GTX 1080 Max Q = GTX 1070 Ti desktop equivalent
        GTX 1070 Max Q = GTX 1060 6gb desktop equivalent
GTX 1060 Max Q = GTX 1050 Ti desktop equivalent

        • Yep, you guys may have gotten downvoted by 1070 Max-Q owners in denial.

        • I would say it's more like in-between. CUDA cores are the same but the clock is lower so the GPU is closer to 1070 at higher graphics/ low FPS and closer to 1060 at low settings/ higher FPS

          • @Sopzo: Yeah this is a very broad explanation of the actual accurate performance they are a little better than their downgraded desktop counterparts but just trying to make sure people know Max Q usually means a lower performance than desktop equivalent like how any cpu desktop equivalent will run a bit faster thanks to it being created to handle more heat / power than it's laptop equivalent or counterparts in usually less heat capable form factor / space.

      • Good point

  • Can anyone confirm if this also comes with sad as the page is confusing.

    Memory and storage
    16 GB memory
    2 TB HDD storage
    256 GB SSD storage

    • Says it exactly in what you quoted. It has a 2TB HDD and a 256GB SSD.

      • I just want sure as it only mentions the 2tb up the top in the overview

        • Might have to contact them to know for certain but the fact that the Complete Specifications say it I think it does.

        • I was thinking the same thing.

I just PDF'ed the page to be safe

Great deal. If you plan on travelling with this, be advised it weighs a ton, even the charging brick is heavy. You'll likely need to invest in a bag fitting an 18" laptop.
All up with cables, keys, 2x portable SSDs, a notebook, phone + charger, my backpack weighs 13kg - excluding a water bottle.

Why do you hate your back?

      • lol true
stopped lugging it daily to work after a week
OTOH, a massive backpack seems to emanate 'work cred' just like a rolling carry on luggage owned by senior leadership

btw, the CPU and GPU on this laptop reach 90° immediately when gaming eg Civ 6, the fans going full blast via the two exhaust ports blowing out the back will let you know. HP says safety threshold is <100°, you may want to call their tech support to ask for better thermal paste to be applied.
I'm coming from desktop gaming where GPU&CPU normally are under 60°

Compared to other serious gaming laptops, the cooling aren't the best. The 120hz screen is quite nice. Overall, no serious regrets and its a daily driver.

  • code is HPFRENZY35% not HPFRENZY35
