We apologise, but our 2 year contracts are only available on the Unlimited plans right now.

      • Rep, to confirm, once signed up for 24m contract on 50/20 unlimited, one cannot downgrade to say 25/5 speed or 300/500gb limit to save on monthly fees?

  • My current plan doesn't finish till April. Does anyone know if I can sign up for this deal now for a connection date 2/3 months away?

    • Yep, when you sign up (on the page where you put the promo code in) it has a ‘Do Not Connect Before’ date. Just set the date there and you’ll be connected on that day (I’m assuming you already have NBN and it’ll be a churn, or you’re lucky enough to be on FTTP and it’ll be enabled on the next available port).

      • Thanks mate.

        I'm on HFC.

        • Yep, should be a simple churn. Just wait till after it’s gone through before telling your current RSP (unless you have to let them know 30 days in advance like TPG).

  • we are getting HFC at our place, do I need to buy a modem from ABB or will the one that the installer brings be sufficient? I don't want to buy a modem if I don't have to…… HELP…..

    • +1

For HFC, NBN Co will supply a HFC Modem after you place an order with your ISP. But you still need a Router which connects to the HFC modem, for Wi-Fi and ethernet access (& VoIP if you want to keep your landline).

If you have an existing Wi-Fi Router, you may be able to continue to use it (Router needs to have a WAN/eWAN or INTERNET port).

      • I have a N750 WiFi Router, will that work with NBN?

        • +1

          Probably.
What brand and model is it?

          • @1bug: Correction it's a N300 WiFi Modem Router (ADSL 2 modem) ….. guessing that won't work? https://www.netgear.com.au/home/products/networking/modem-ro…

            • @mreddie: The DGN2200 has 3 hardware versions: v1, v3, and v4.

According to the manuals, only v4 has a dual purpose LAN/WAN port (port #4).

If you have a DGN2200v4 modem/router (check the label on the bottom), then you should be able to use it with NBN (HFC, FTTP, FW) providing the router wasn't supplied and locked by your ISP (Telstra and Optus are known to lock some of their devices).

  • Anyone want to give me a referral code to cash in? I'm going to book in a new connection for the end of this month.
I'll be completing the form this Friday. PM me

    • You can't use a coupon and a referral code at the same time.

      • I don't think I get a credit, but the referrer does i believe. I'll speak to the ABB customer service to confirm.

      • Yes you can, just the person signing up doesn’t get the $50 bonus as well, only the benefit of the code (so the $20 off a month).

Also sussdamuss dunno how people aren’t meant to PM you with your PM’s off 😂😂

        • ….I was playing hard to get……sheeeeesh.

Rectified, thanks for the heads up and I'll accept your PM now!

If you don't need a phone, does anyone know why you wouldn't go with Exetel's unlimited nbn50 plan which has a normal price of $59 ?

    • +1

Phone connection is included. Its just PAYG which is good because who uses a home phone these days when most mobile plans are unlimited talk & text.

  • if anyone wants to pm me their referral code, i should be signing up in the next couple of days

    • update: signed up already

  • In other news, TPG continues to boast that it is rated #1 for NBN average download speed according to the ACCC's November 2018 Measuring Broadband Australia Report.

How does that work exactly? its typical speeds advertised are less than that of Aussie Broadband

    • been curious about this myself

  • -6

    I'm boycotting aussiebb. Cancelling.

Here I am paying $20 more as a loyal user.

  • -1

Why bother when you can get the same 50/20 unlimited plan at Exetel for 59.99 a month ongoing. Free modem, free activation.

    • +1

Customer service matters, I believe from all the posts I've read regarding Exetel NBN Customer Service is shocking!

      • +1

I've never had a problem with them. I see the same comments about Aussie Broadband saying that there customer service is terrible.

    • +1

      Better CVC ratio
      AU call centers

They provided me with more accurate nbn timeframes than nbn!

No 25Mbps plan with Exetel, and that is all I can get.

  • Is the process of porting phone number from Optus HFC to ABB NBN HFC pretty straightforward? I already have a VOIP ATA that can be utilised.

  • If you're switching from TPG NBN, you can't use the TPG supplied router as it's firmware-locked by TPG fkers.

    • Is that just for the free modem you get under contract or even if you pay for the modem under no contract

Does Aussie do the same with their modem?

      • Free modem via contract

Realise this may be too late to catch anyone's eye, but just a question if I may.

Having just signed up with ABB for a first time connection to the NBN via FTTC, my connection requires an NCD to connect to my phone outlet, I have a router already so that's not required.

This NCD is supposed to be supplied by the NBN Co free of charge, and ABB are sending one to me but charging $15 postage plus $5 to expedite.

Is it normal for the RSP to send the NCD box and to charge $15 for postage? Shouldn't NBNco cover the cost and provision of the free NCD. I accept that the NCD itself is technically free but paying $15 postage for a free NBNCo device seems a bit rich. Please don't flame me for being a scrooge, it's just I'm new to this NBN procedural stuff.

    Cheers.

    • I am also curious about this as well as I have a couple of routers already so I don't need anything more than the basic mdodem and FTTC is supposed to be ready in my area in March.

    • +1

Just to update, my NCD was sent to me by ABB directly within a couple of days and at no cost at all, so full marks to ABB, thank- you.
My NBN has been connected and running very sweetly with ABB no problems at all, smooth process, thumbs up.
      Happy camper here :)

      • Did you complain about the postage fees, or did they just not charge you?

        • +1

No, no need for any complaint, it was just the way it was, so got off to a good start with ABB, and having recommended them to someone who has also now started with ABB we qualified for the referral bonus which has also been terrific…..now I touch wood :)

  • Can this code be used then be cancelled after 6 months in a rental property

    • +1

Its a no contract plan. You are free to cancel even within 6 months. Just check on the notice period required, sometimes you need to inform them 30 days in advance.

  • NVM

  • I can get access to nbn via HFC. Currently on a Telstra plan with the Gateway Max, can I use the modem to connect to ABB?

    • Are you already connected to NBN on Telstra? If so yes it should work as I switched from Telstra to ABB using Telstra's equipment without any issues.

      • Nope, currently on cable only. Should still work right?

        • Were you given a separate Modem by Telstra? If so it should be fine. When the NBN guys came to install it for me (when I was still with Telstra), they provided their own modem anyway and didn't use the one provided by Telstra.

  • Getting an 'Invalid promo code provided' for the 50/20 unlimited plan using SHOULDBE20. Anyone had similar issue?

    • +1

Yes this has been mentioned by a couple of posts before. Try using 'cbf20' or just call them up and place the order. May take some of your time today, but save you cash for the 6 months.

      • Thanks called up and had the discount applied with no issue

  • Thanks! Added it to my Service.

  • The promo code is no longer valid.

    • +1

      It is still working.

      • Did you put "shouldbe20" at promo code? It doesn't work for me.

        • Code is "SHOULDBE20"

          • @ozizoy: just tested it comes up as invalid on custom plans. working on $99 100mbps plan

  • Thank goodness I joined 2 days ago when my home went live on NBN.

  • Thanks OP. I signed up with promo code. Perfect timing as my Tangerine promo code ends last month. :)

    • Same position here :)

  • Keen to sign up with AussieBB, however i don't have exact date on when my area will be definitely live. NBN checker indicate sometime March. notice that this offer is expiring end of the month. should i just pre-signup then on the do not connect prior date i enter eg 1st April?

    connection is HFC

    • +2

You can pre order 3 months in advanced, just sign up now using the code and they'll let you know when they can connect you/the technician is booked in. Don't worry about the 'do not connect prior' as that's only really used if you're already RFS and need to line it up with your current ISP's rollvoer date etc.

If that date doesn't suit you can just contact them and reschedule the date. Don't worry if your area gets delayed from being RFS as it won't invalidate the code as long as it's now saying it's within 3 months of being RFS.

If you put your address in here it should give you an actual estimated date.

  • what's the cut over times from an existing competitor?

  • anyone sign up with phone line but nothing is mentioned in the email, pdf or online services?

    IS this normal?

  • Signing up as last day. If anyone* wants to PM me and refer me to this deal hint hint.

.* Old OzB members who have contributed good to the community need only reply.

    Edit: Referred. Good luck! :)

    • I thought the referree either got the $50 bonus OR the deal, not both… If so, surely the deal is better ($20x6) than the referal bonus.

      • No, as the referree, I only receive the $20 off/6 months. The referrer receives $50 referrer bonus. I receive nothing extra from using their code, besides the feeling of helping a fellow ozbargainer.

        • Oh, well there you go! didn't realise that. I thought you lost out on the deal if you used a referral. I should have used one too!

    • +1

When did you sign up? Says invalid code, expired now..

  • Expired? Not working for me… invalid promo code.
