Seriously?! I bought this at lunch time today for $18. I'll take it back and ask them to match it. Pretty sturdy ladder though and great deal for under $10. Fits well folded in the gap next to the fridge.

    • I was just going to ask the difference between the one in the deal and this one, which is $18. Are you sure you have got the one posted here?

      • If you want one with black steps you have to pay an $8.10 premium.

As an aside, the way these are designed is nonsensical. Little wonder that they can only support 100kg and they're on special as a result.

        • I was looking for differences, and although they look the same, they're slightly different. Not sure if that warrants that extra $$ since they all support 100kg.

          • @AussieDaddy: How are they different though? The only difference I can see is that the $9.90 ones are available in grey, purple, red or blue, whereas the $18 one is black. Same description for both listings. Model number also the same for both (2SDS).

            • @Pantagonist: The I/N numbers (item number?) are different, and the black $18 one has some text written on the top step, whereas the others don't. Also, if you look closely it seems that the more expensive one has thicker frames than the discounted variants? Probably my eyes are playing tricks on my mind. But as you've pointed out, they generally look the same and so are their descriptions.

              • @AussieDaddy: Item / inventory numbers are different because the prices are different because of whatever Bunnings logic that we can't work out.

I think you'd better get to bed so you can be at your local store nice and early tomorrow to compare and contrast the models and put your mind at ease.

Or you could just read stevednj48's post below which confirms what I've already said.

                • @Pantagonist: You are correct, we bought the deluxe black model by the look of it…

              • @AussieDaddy: text " Domestic Use Rated 100 kg Max"

Just went into Bunnings and grabbed the black 2 step ladder which had a different item number and was scanning as $18. Spoke to the clerk and showed her the website which said $9.90. She changed the price for me no questions asked.

You have selected the "Prestige Black" paint option. :)

  • +4

I would have thought for $30 you should get an aluminium one - just because you compare to elsewhere. If you don't mind that this one is quite heavy it saves you some money, agreed.

    • Second that, I bought the aluminium one despite of the higher price. The steel one is noticeably heavier.

      • +1

Steel heavier than aluminum?! Insane! ;)

      • +8

But at the price, it's a steel!

    • -1

If you don't mind that this one is quite heavy it saves you some money, agreed.

Thanks for that important info. I have to be careful of anything heavy due to back injury.

Weight is 4kg . Ok for me, but might be too heavy for others.

I was thinking like 10kg or even more, that would be what I consider "quite heavy" .

‘Four different colours to choose from.’

The red option will go faster…

  • +6

100kg limit means we have to buy two of these. No bargain.

    • +2

      Two? Try three!

      • Are you super heavy weight sumo wrestler?

        • +2

Nah, just the average OzB user. Lol. I think our average BMI here would be at the upper limits

    • +2

One should do. Just make sure you only have one foot on it at any one time and you should be safe.

  • +1

How high is the uppermost step?

    • +1

The height of the whole product is 90cm, I'm guessing the step is around 60cm or shorter.

  • +3

Shame I'm at 95kg and if dynamic load factor 1.3 applied…

    • +1

Buy 2, one for each foot.

    • You sound like an engineer, I'm sure you could modify/upgrade it to suit your needs :)

  • My local only had black and wouldn't budge from the $18.00 model number matched but supposedly the promos aren't the same I'm guessing because of the other colors.

    • I had same issue, have to take it back from the checkout counter. Eventually I managed to find the colored one which were not in the same aisle or anywhere close rather they were in the common walking area (i don't know what its called Aisle), quality of material is different. i still picked up white and red (what a nice piece of furniture)

  • Great deal thanks!

I have the black one from years ago, copped a beating, used everywhere, so going great. Time to get it a colourful sibling.

  • +1

Thanks OP but even with this I can't reach my full potential.

    • Stack one on top of another, you will reach new height.

  • +2

I have two of these (indoor/outdoor), and they're damn handy for everything from washing the car to gardening and home maintenance. Must-have item IMO.

    • Got one to use when washing the car. Thanks

      • I use a milk crate.

        • Never use a milk crate or even this at work. Saw footage once of a retail shop girl slipping off a milk crate then landing her back on it. Talk about company wide safety audits….

Is this better compared to climbing up on a chair?

    • +8

No, nothing is better than that

    • +5

No. Chairs are readily available throughout the house whereas this ladder will likely spend most of its time in the garage.

    • if u dont mind falling off cheap chairs or damaging expensive chairs then chairs maybe better

      • I don't really understand why you can damage your chairs by climbing up on it? The chairs are designed to hold your full body weight but not just your butt.

        • +1

Try to stand and work on an ikea marius stool or gunde foldable chair. Wouldnt be very safe I reckon. Or if I do some paint work or drop some tools on my expensive chairs I wouldnt be very happy

  • Almost got one last week at costco but was out of room in the trolley it was $30. Thanks so much

    • +2

out of room in a costco trolley?

      • +4

I was embarrassingly was an $800 stock up after not being a member for 2 years

        • +5

u probably dont need to go again for another 2 years lol

  • Thanks OP, been meaning to get a step ladder for a while. Just went and bought one.

  • +1

100kg limit? Most OZBers won't be able to stand on it….

    • R u sayin I'm fat?

      • +3

No, he is saying you are obese.

        • Or over 6.5 ft tall and muscular

  • As someone currently nursing a torn knee ligament from falling from about 1.5 foot high I hereby advocate purchasing a better quality step ladder.

  • Well this price is a step in the right direction

    • +1

      2 steps to be precise.

  • +2

Nice to see Bunnings can step up to the mark.

    • I see what you did there

  • 100kg domestic rating

Counts me out. Will have to lay off the sausage sangas for a bit before I climb on this one…

The online stock record for the store is not accurate. The website says my local Rockdale store only has grey colour in stock, but all four colours are available and quite a number remaining. I am guessing they don't have a price tag on, so people don't know they are only $9.90. I picked up a blue one.

  • Saw these yesterday before seeing this post and didn't realise how much they are at other places. Might pick up one today then.
Got a similar looking one from Officeworks a while back (and obv forgot how much I paid for it lol) and it does the job ok; just a little "industrial" as in metal clunking and scratching sounds setting it up.

  • just grabbed mine.. thanks

was none left at Wollongong but still a few left at Bellambi this morning..

  • Thanks OP. Bought one. For anyone that's interested I recommend calling your local store for stock levels as online quantity shown is not right. My local online said none in stock but when I walked in I was able to grab one for 9.90.

  • Thanks OP, bought one from Mt Gravatt, Wecker Rd, Brisbane. Quite a lot of stock currently.
The website is showing no stock for red color. But hubby rang and picked-up a "red color" It doesnt look like red to me, and the label said "plum".
A little bit rough, metal feel, quite different from the plastic one we have ($60+).
Not sure whether the open/shut will get smoother over time….

    • wd-40 will make it easier

  • +1

Didn't want one. Got one. Damn Ozbargain.

  • plenty left at Waurn Ponds Vic some with the ladders and others about 2 aisles down.

  • Got one, looks okay to me and for $9.90 can’t complain , it’s a step up from what we have now :)

  • Noob question: can you make online orders on Bunnings and click & collect?

  • If you're in Perth and want one of these - there's plenty of stock in Bayswater. All colours available. I just went in and grabbed one today.

  • +1

Bought one the other day. Used it today for the first time. Didn't feel very confident stepping on it. Though for under 10 bucks can't go wrong.
