you realise Surface Book is different from Surface Laptop?
I always see like a percentage off in the JBHiFi Store, though unsure if you need to be a student for it? I think its only like 10 percent though, sometimes its worth asking the Microsoft store, i went in once and they gave me a pretty good deal with an xbox I bought which had no sales info anywhere.
Unfortunately though I feel you're looking for a proper sale and I'm sure theres been a few because I bought mine during one, so its probably worth waiting.
I personally don't find the Surface Laptop appealing. The pen-enabled touchscreen isn't very practical as it's not a convertible design and while the Alcantara keyboard looks nice when new, it can't be easily replaced (like a Surface Pro keyboard can) when it eventually starts looking grubby.
Anyway, Surface Laptop 2 i5/8GB/256GB is normally $1998 but looking at the history on Price Hipster, goes on sale regularly for $1694-$1698 at JB/TGG/Hardly Normal so don't pay more than that. Lowest price was $1598 at Hardly Normal in December.
Yeah. My original SL keyboard carpet got pretty grubby just where your palms rest - luckily it failed under warranty but now I'm super vigilent about washing my hands when using the laptop.
Good laptop though.
