Good find, not sure why I didn't look at Amazon. Shows how crazy the RRP are in the retail stores
As the OP you can, if you wish, edit your post to point to the cheaper deal.
Was on sale for $180 at Amazon just before XMas. Not sure how often that happens.
Bought some Luce Belle LEDs from Bunnings & gave my kid $100 to turn the light switch on & off on request.
Not really - but I can't justify the value in Hue, how is it any better than a $7 Sonoff switch & existing LED globes?
It costs me nothing to install a $30 globe. What's it cost to install your $7 Sonoff switch?
No smart home integration with Google Assistant or Alexa. Also, Hue uses Zigbee, which requires a bridge but is much quicker and more reliable.
More expensive, yes, but if you catch them on flash sales, you can get them for a hair over Yeelights.
Sonoff works out of the box with Alexa & Google Assistant. Works with Homekit via Homebridge.
Sonoff does everything and I do not agree that they are a hair over the yeelights. Completely different pricing.
Sorry, I thought he was referring to the Luca Bella. But it's still a different product. Adding a smart switch still doesn't give the same control as something like Hue, LIFX or Yeelight.
You can get Hue starter kits with bridge and a couple of white globes for $60 on sale. Colour globes can be found for ~$30, which isn't that much more than Yeelight.
Well that $7 Sonoff is “supposed” to come with an electrician callout which will generally cost people money. As far as I’ve been able to find out the Sonoff Zwave controllers aren’t certified yet for Australia (would love to hear if they are) and they’d need a Zwave controller of their own. Wifi might be an option but personally I don’t want my wifi network flooded with smart devices…much prefer to have them on zigbee or Zwave for performance reasons.
Also in this early days of smart devices replacing a bulbs far quicker and easier for trying ithe tech out as a starting point. It’s also likely the only option for renters.
There is a company in Oz that are in the process of getting certification on some devices. Can't remember who but from memory did see the application. Pretty sure these will be rebranded too and cost a lot more.
Yeah saw posts on Whirlpool saying as much from around Q3 2018. Having looked at smart switches in the past fortnight though I couldn't find evidence that the certification had been issued.
yes, ompletely overpriced but I love them. The colours look nice.
Very responsive and reliable.
The schedules work without a hitch. Energise in the morning, relax at night.
iLightShow is fun.
Should have better integration, I use IFTTT to integrate with
- Skybell
- BlueIris
- Plex
Have heard too many stories about fires from lights, so stick to decent brands certified for use in Australia.
Schedules are slightly flaky for me…with some ghost automations remaining after I’ve played with various automations. I need to do a reset I think.
But yeah, great colors in the color ambience models.
Can you link any articles of fires from non hue lights?
