Phillips Sonicare 2 Series Twin Pack $109.99 @ Costco (Membership Required)

190

Was looking into Quip a few weeks back and everyone seemed to be raving about Phillips Sonicare being better.

Saw a Sonicare Series 2 twin-pack at Costco yesterday and pulled the trigger.

Reg Costco price is $129.99 with an instant $20 rebate. Model number is HX6232.

Comes to $55 each unit. Pack contains two handles (black/pink) with one head each and a travel charger.

This a model up from the Elite Plus basic version and features:

-quadrant timer (30 sec X4)

-east start (starts low speed and increases to regular speed over first fifteen brushes)

-supposed 2 week battery time (battery is rechargeable and replaceable)

-2 year warranty

Ticks all the boxes for basic functionality which I was after (never used electric before).

It uses Diamond Clean brush heads, which Costco also had for sale in a six-pack for $43.99 with an instant $10 rebate ($33.99).

You're supposed to replace the brush heads every 3 months so it comes to $5.66 a head and 9 months coverage if both units are used (12 months incl the head that comes with the brush).

Only downside is it says can take up to 48 hrs to charge. Out of the box the units have enough charge to brush (don't know exactly how much charge).

We had one unit on the charger all night and it's still charging to full as of now.

There's a few Sonicare models -

Phillips has one unit with a retail price of $129 (has two heads)

ShaverShop has the HX6231 (older model?) for sale at $69.95 for one unit.

Myer has the same model for $109.65 on sale for one unit (2 heads).

eBay price for the twin-pack is $150+ (might be opportunistic Costco reshippers).

Not sure how long the rebate sale is for (didn't think to take a photo sorry).

Good find OP. +1 for description and effort.

  • Agree…. informative post. Thx

  • I have a Sonicare that I moved to from the $20 Woolies Oral B and I absolutely 100% prefer the Oral B. The farking auto quadrant off-timer is the bane of my morning routine.

    • i moved from the cheapo oral B to the Sonicare Flexcare Platinum … even at about 10x the times the price i reckon it was definately worth it. Teeth were noticeably cleaner after first few uses

      • I'm not a fan of the shape of the Philips head, and having absolutely no way of controlling whether the thing turns itself off shits me enough to hate the unit.

        • I found the timer useful, enough time to go over the back and front of teeth quarters.

If it turns off you can just press the button and get another 2 minutes? The 30 sec pauses are hardly noticeable if you ignore them (I initially thought the brush was just getting stuck on my teeth).

Thanks supabrudda for the expiry, added as well as the 2 yr. warranty period.

          • @Shard: Not for me - I go for longer than 2 minutes (on a good day ;)) so I have to stop, press the button again for on, finish my routine, then press it 3 more times to go off. Seemingly a miniscule moot point but it annoys me every time. I want an on/off button so I can brush to my own routine. Anything automated should have a manual override.

            • @Hinee: I think you might have the model up, this one is just push button on and off.

If you push the button while it's on it pauses and remembers where you are in the 2 min cycle.

If the unit is paused for more than 30 secs it resets the 2 min timer.

I did see the more expensive units ($250+ black one was top of line from memory), yeah I don't need all that in a brush. One button on/off with a timer and I'm good :D

              • @Shard: Just looked it up - I have the HealthyWhite version.

In which case - anyone reading this thread up until now ignore anything I've said. My only thing of note comparing these VS supermarket models is that it's a very different experience. One is a round rotating head - these are an oval shaped vibrating head. I prefer the round version but YMMV

  • Not sure how long the rebate sale is for

[VIC] Phillips Sonicare 2 Series Twin Pack $109.99 (Membership Required) @ Costco (Docklands)

It's nationwide too. So maybe drop the [VIC] & (Dockland) in the title, so more people might see it.

    • There's a few models. One lower than this is the Elite Plus, probably that one.
