These are flac files. Hi fi stuff. Good if you have proper audio equipments.

I too exclusively used FLAC files and signed up to Tidal, but after doing an ABX test, I couldn't tell the difference between 320kbps mp3 (Spotify) and FLAC, like most people. The reality is, if you don't have very high-quality equipment, you won't be able to tell the difference between Hi-Fi and standard audio, and even with the top equipment, you may still be unable to. That said, Tidal's interface is probably the best of any Streaming service (Desktop app at least) and it has a wider range than I remember a few years ago.

    • Last I used Tidal it was clunky at best, but, that was its launch month. Interested to try it again

      • By far the best looking interface in my opinion. Also has music videos available in the app.

    • Deal has Expired! /:

    • Didnt work for me.

Not only is that expired, but they will still allow you to sign up with it, setup payment but then not give you an account!

My optus phone plan includes unlimited data for Spotify, would be interesting to see the data requirements for FLAC music on the go. The only FLAC files I have are Tool albums because none of the streaming platforms have them, and those are about 70MB per song

      FLAC: 144MB per hour
      MQA: 635MB per hour

      Source: https://www.nbnco.com.au/blog/entertainment/how-much-data-do…

      • It clearly does not say that!
It says Tidal Premium uses 320Kbits (which is not FLAC!) and will eat up about 144MB per hour and that Tidal HiFi (which can be either FLAC, ALAC or the highly questionable MQA) will use 1,411Kbits (which is in fact a fair bit over the avg bitrate of FLAC and ALAC compressed CD quality audio and thus is not accurate) for about 635MB a hour.

I can confirm that as of today the deal is still working - I now have three months of free HiFi subscription set up and working. Which pleases me greatly as I've just got some MQA-capable equipment so I am keen to try it out.

I can also confirm that the 180-day link does NOT work. I tried using it with both an existing signup and completely new details and neither worked. Note that if it HAD worked and you then upgraded from Premium to HiFi it would have cut the free trial in half back to 90 days, which is no different to the main deal above.

Thanks OP! I've been looking for one of these extended trial offers :D

    • You’re welcome and thanks fo confirming .. have updated op 👍🏻

  • Can you cancel early and still get the full 3 months?

    • Yes, I just did.

      Subscription successfully cancelled
Thanks for streaming with TIDAL. Your subscription will come to a full stop on 18.04.19

Also the cost for a standard accout is $11.99 which you can downgrade too, and looks like they also have student discount.

If it wasn't for all of my spotify playlists I'd probably switch.

Tidal. Yes! The best sounding music streamer out there. I'm on a current Hifi 3 month trial. Will grab this for sure when it expires. Thanks OP.
