Klipsch R-8SW Subwoofer $359.2 Delivered @ kg electronic

    Wow normally $600!

I have a pair of ELAC bookshelf speakers, will get a sub one day down the track!

    • +1

Which Elac out of curiosity because I'm in the market for a bookshelf speaker. How's the sound? Where did you buy it and if you dont mind, the price as well. Thanks.

Also try the KEF LS50 Wireless or the smaller LSX. Serious bang for the buck.

        • +1

The LS is way out of my budget. I'd like to sample one though. People says it's one of the benchmark speakers. Looks badass just sitting on a stand or shelf. Im also considering the kef Q100…any input on it?

        • Is the LS50W worth it over the LSX and this sub?

          • +1

@Austere: I haven't heard the LSX, though I do have the LS50w and the LS50s already, both will benefit from a subwoofer, however I'd suggest going the LSX route personally for the price it's incredible.

            • @scuderiarmani: Was already sold on the LS50W, but then you can almost get 4x LSXs for the same price.

Listened to the LS50s previously and was completely blown away. Need to find a good comparison of LSX to LS50W.

              • @Austere: Bigger driver, just expect bigger midland low range output. I doubt tonally it's different. A sub fixes everything anyway.

      • The 6 Inch pair.

We got taken upstairs to an acoustically treated room for a demo and were blown away!

We got them at https://www.stereophonic.com.au/ and were around $600.

The sound on them at home is amazing, such a deep, rich, crystal clear sound! The volume goes so loud you wouldn't believe it!

        Highly recommend the ELAC's.

Yes, I've been eyeing on this model for a long time. If only the elac uni-fi UB5 are as cheap as in the US for USD$350-400, i'd get that for sure. Thanks for the input.

  • Can i pair this with my audio engine 5 pc speaker?

  • For such a well known brand in the hifi world it's amazing how there are no official reviews.

    • Just curious what makes an official review?

      • An audio site/magazine as opposed to some unanimous comment?

Entry level subs, hardly ever get reviews.
I just bought this Velodyne sub (https://www.videopro.com.au/p-2664-velodyne-impact-imp12bemk…), best price I can find. I may post for those interested ($645.00 delivered).

Velodyne is a brand known for their very well made high end subs and started making the "impact' series a couple of years ago as an entry level with the 10" and 12"models. This is the MK2 version with a better build foam surround no longer, its now rubber, which should be better (last longer).

I could not find a proper review from the likes of WhatHiFi etc. there are for their Mk1 Impact series and the 10" version had very good reviews, but I really wanted a 12" to replace my Klipsch KSW12 which decided to kick the bucket (power supply Issue I think). I decided at this price I would buy something that is supposed to be better (an improvement over the Klipsch), so far I am loving it.

      • Yeah this one is 8” so maybe not even considered a sub-woofer… but l live in an apartment and don’t really want anything huge. Surely going to be an improvement on the floppy mess of bass that comes out of the YAS1080 soundbar. We’ll see I guess.
