    • What is New Zealand breakfast? is it made there?

      • +2

Nope. Imported from the UK, made from imported ingredients (don't say where).

Pretty much the same as Australian Afternoon or an Australia Day thong (made in China) in concept -> appeal to national pride to sell foreign goods.

        INGREDIENTS
        Black Tea, Bergamot Flavouring

        • So no standard English breakfast

It's 40C here today yet I'm still drinking hot green tea. Some people say I'm strange.

  • Lemon and Ginger flavour was awesome!

Well. Now it's so hot I'm not currently drinking any teas.

But come cold weather, it'll go good.

The extra strong english breakfast is great for teh tarik or milk tea.

This is reoccurring. In the shop they couldn't really tell me at what time though… One worker at woolies says its around every 4 weeks. Always buy them half priced :)

Message to the supermarket chains: please restock your shelves with loose leaf instead of sawdust in a bag.

I'm too povvo for T2, so am getting my fix from specialty Asian grocers increasingly.

What type or brand of tea do you get from Asian grocers? I’m interested to know. I’m still trying to find something that suit for making milk tea. All these supermarket tea bags seems a bit weak for that.

      • I'm more of a tea without milk person! Jasmine, Oolong, Genmaicha, pu-erh are some varieties.

Possibly pu-erh or a woody oolong might go with milk. Lapsang souchon is a smoked tea, so maybe.

I had Mildura loose leaf green tea from the supermarkets.

I swear you can get a better taste from steeping an alkaline battery (Eneloops if you want to use it many times).

Having tried every brand of green tea sold in Woolies and Coles I have to say Asian grocers are where you get real green tea.

Get leaf green tea only from Asian grocers. What supermarkets sell is usually pretty foul and I don't know how they can call it green tea. Also check out the difference between Chinese and Japanese green teas. The method of preparation is different and the flavour differences are quite large.

Check out Middle Eastern supermarkets - they generally sell awesome large-leaf black tea for $10/kg.

  • no Chai anymore either
