  • TN, IPS or VA panel? I am guessing TN.

    • Says MVA here

    • Stand corrected

    • Yeah read MVA somewhere but had never heard of it so left it out haha

The AG272FCX’s 16:9 VA panel with a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080

The price is what you pay, the value is what you get. I had AOC monitor before. Their panel got quite mediocre or even poor image quality.

Interesting - I currently have an Q3279VWFD8 with an IPS screen for the past 6 months and I'm more impressed with it than my 32" Samsung 1080p curved display.

    • I had an AOC panel many moons ago that lasted a couple of years before washing out really badly .

    • +3

I've had AOC monitors in the past and have been quite impressed with the colour range and accuracy (sitting right next to my colour calibrated Dell). Different batches and panel suppliers between models and so on .. but I would not automatically write them off at all.

      • Dell are also a very mixed bag . I have 2 Dells in front of me . One TN panel is turned off as i only use it when I have to . The other is an IPS and quite delightful .

  • Recently got a 31 inch.. paired with a 27… the size difference is too much, already looking to upgrade the 27.

    • I have a 27 and a 31 and I was thinking of buying a second 27. But mostly because the 27 I got is much better quality than the 31.

      • 27"= 34" ultrawide

  • +3

I find 27" is too big for 1080p.

    • +1

You must sit really close to the screen…

    • +2

I have a 31" 1080p and I don't think the resolution is bad. I can't see individual pixels. How close do you sit?

      • +1

Less than 1m. I can see the pixels on my old 27" 1080p. My 1440p 27" is perfect though.

        • Less than 1m

That'd be half the problem there, if you're that close then 1080p isn't ideal. I'm sitting at >1.3m from my monitors and 1080p is fine @ 27". Obviously, if I move closer within the 1m range, then I'm starting to see pixels.

I'll say what I usually say though: I have 20/20 vision and I've used all different sizes at different resolutions for the past 25 years - for both gaming and content creation. Plus, it's easier to drive 1080p at 144hz than something like 1440p or 4k - I personally favour frame rate over resolution.

My friend has a Acer 1080p 27", which is VA based, now that one looks terrible for clarity. It's at the point where I believe that people thinking 1080p is terrible at 27" used a VA or TN panel instead of a good IPS panel.

Other people I know personally that have 27" (and larger sizes) at 1080p and have zero issues with clarity, their eyesight is fine as well.

I'm not saying that 1440p or higher is unnecessary or anything like that, it's only that 1080p is not as bad as everyone thinks it is.

    • +5

      I agree 27" should be 1440.

    • +6

Not sure why you are downvoted. I have a 27 inch 1440p at home and 27 inch 1080p at work.

27 inch 1440p win hands down. Everything is sharper compare to the blurry 1080p.

      • +3

Agree - no idea why there's downvoting here.

Pretty common consensus amongst anyone that's into their monitors that 27" and above probably ought to be aiming at 1440p.

If you look at a 1080p and 1440p 27" monitor side by side, you'll definitely see why.

With that being said, this is a pretty good price still.

had 32” 1440p …..down graded to 27” 4k … it’s great, no pixels every thing is just fine lines.

the 32” when working close needed too much head movement to see the edges, so really just looked at 1080p in the middle most of the time. i don’t use for gaming , office work only.

    • Definitely need a 1440p anything above 27 IMO

  • Are there any reviews about this screen or equivalent ?

  • My first 144hz monitor was a AOC, i was more than happy with it. being a FPS gamer and going from 60hz to 144hz was amazing.

  • i'd buy this if i still gamed on my pc.

  • Kogan is having another sale on their 1440p 144hz 27inch curved freesync monitor for 379 (not sure if the monitor will be good quality but I'll comment on it when I get it). Might as well get the better resolution monitor while you can.
