You need to "recharge" in the app first
But when you pay, you can choose to pay by the credit in app, or by cash / card
(I prefer just leave the credit in app so I can always lock in price any without recharging)

Well I took my boy with me for the long drive out to Eltham to fill up in person, I already had a price locked in on the app.
They are out of 91 so I guess that's why 98 is so cheap.

Once you have the price locked in the app
you can recharge in ANY 7-eleven fuel station in Australia
Just go to the nearest one and show the Lock-price barcode
Unless I'm missing something, when you already have a price locked in it doesn't let you search again until you either use it or it expires?

Otherwise you might need to wait till the locked price expired (It will not deduct any credit if you didn't use the barcode)

Your credit doesn't expire. They're not giftcards, its like credit on your phone/itunes/playstore
Of course you can use it to pay for fuel & stuff at 7-11, but you need to have enough credit to cover your lockin price. Otherwise you need to top up again.

Locking in fuel doesn't count as 'use', but spending any of the balance would.

I asked 7/11 team via FB messenger and they said the credit on the account won't disappear

Meanwhile in Canberra, best local price (which is actually across the border in Queanbeyan)… 159.9. And it's only cheaper there because it's near the airport Costco…
I was out in Talbingo NSW (near Tumut), little town with population of about 200, and petrol was cheaper than in Canberra.

Canberra actually has a diverse range of petrol stations compared to many other locations - but private businesses will always charge what the market is willing to bear. In the case of Canberra, its highly paid workforce would rather spend the extra dollars and go to their local servo as opposed to shopping around for the best deal.
It's not the full story, there are plenty of servos, yes, but the ONLY servo willing to offer much competition is Costco, which is pretty out of the way for general fill-ups, however it's some 20-30c per litre cheaper than the ones in the rest of town. Only things out in Fyshwick/Airport/Queanbeyan come down a bit due to costco and nothing else.
The market bears it because there really isn't any competition in the rest of the city. There are BP, Shell, 7 Eleven, United, Caltex all over the city and almost all charging $1.49/L or more for E10 or 91… It is anti-competitive and the excuse that Canberra has a higher income doesn't really make up for it. It's often not a case of "shopping around" when doing so would require a 30-40 min round trip to the Airport for a decent price… You're left to fill up at a gouged price somewhere else.
The thing is, these servos are finding through trial and error that the benefit from them reducing their prices marginally is less than the cost of those lower prices. In other words people aren't price sensitive enough and are not willing to drive out of their way to fuel up for cheaper.
Essentially consumers as a whole are in control but it seems they can't be arsed and voilà.
I haven't checked, but wonder how good the Costco fuel price is, as cars are always banked up and in about 7 lanes or whatever it is..
Unless it moves quickly I dont think I could be bothered, plus not a member at moment.
I get 98 from the woollies Caltex Majura Park Airport next to Costco at about the same price as 91/95 depending on the day from my local
example today Majura Park (airport) Woollies 98 is $144.7, and my local 98=160.9 and 95=153.9 and E10=139.9 then less the 4 cents discount.
Most of Canberra 98= 159.9//162.9 inc the 4 cent discount
Bowral and Moruya 98=132.7 - and go figure Moss Vale 98=142.9 + Batemans Bay 98=143.7 - then less 4 cents

Being a Canberran, I think it's worth it. I save roughly 40 cents a litre using 7/11. Lmao.
I went to Canberra this Xmas, seems petrol price is nearly 40c more than VIC and NSW.
I've been locking interstate and stuff for ages and no ones ever contacted me and the staff have never said anything either.
I do recall a guy was busted for interstate locking 0.01/L price lock ages ago but that was because they got 130L of fuel for like 10c.
in reality they'll just ban your account (I think people got blocked from topping up via CC).
Topping up secondary accounts via the same CC isn't allowed from experience
Workaround: buy 7/11 gift card in store with CC and load up secondary accounts with gift card :)

My local 7-Eleven, less than 5 mins from home. Had a chat to the cashier, they ran out of 91 fuel so it's not a price error but rather an act to supply. They've been pretty busy today apparently, and noises haven't stopped - I assume people fuel locking!
Just came back from a trip to the Mornington Peninsula and I fill my car with 98 fuel so it worked perfectly! Probably never would've noticed so thanks OP! Locked for next visit as well.
For iOS user, you can also lock the price by using Android emulators.

Hi.. Can anyone help me use fake gps app? After installing it asks me to go setting and developer options and select mock location.. But in my note 8, I can't find this developer option..plz help to use this fake gps.. So I can lock prices in 7eleven app.

Wooooooh wooooooh wooooooh it worked..when typing the lactation in search bar.. It was not searching.. So I zoomed the location and pressed play..app closed.. Which means it was selected..next I had to just install the modded app give by some one in previous comments..walla then I closed the fake gps app.. Opened the 7eleven app and it took my location and locked 98fuel at 111.9..just superb.. Thank you everyone for the help.. Cheers
@Rav1: Yeah I have trouble with the fakegps app searching for places too, so just move to the location and press play like you've done.
You can also open Google Maps to confirm the location before opening the 7 11 app.

To pay in store, yes. You will need money in your account to lock a voucher in though.
