Every post about padlocks there is this comment. (Or the “herp derp, I have a battery grinder…” version)

Instead of posting a link to bolt cutters, can I ask, what’s your recommendation as an alternative to this lock at this price point that would resist bolt cutters.

      • +7

The two pack is 6c cheaper and would resist the bolt cutters twice as much.

        • And take twice as long to cut through.

Once you have a welder the cost of the metal and electricity for the welds is much cheaper than a padlock.

A shed door that's welded closed will be hard to open with bolt cutters.

        • +6

Once you have a welder, thieves are going to want to steal it from you. Make sure to keep it secure in the shed.

            @trongy: Exactly!

I always secure my welder in the shed by welding the door shut when I'm finished with the welder.

@trongy: Rookie mistake: welding shed door shut from the outside.

    • 2 spanners are cheaper

      • Oh yeah, I forgot the two spanners comments.

Try a reputable YouTubers video, and not your click baity one…

Got one of them spanner videos where they aren't using Chinese locks made out of cheese?? (EDIT: Check out the link above I found from Lock Picking Lawyer)

How about the video with the wire on slot car motor? Or heating a wire with a cigarette lighter to open locks…

3 years at TAFE to learn how to be a locksmith and all I needed was 2 spanners…

I tell you what, I have a workshop here full of big spanners, I might just sacrifice a lock or some spanners and make a OzB video.

6c cheaper for a two pack

    • Link to the 2 pack for those who doesn’t want to search.

    • Keep in mind though, the two-pack comes with a total of only 3x keys keyed alike. The single pack comes also comes with 3x keys with each lock.

        3x comments alike too ;-)

  • Perfect timing. Was heading off to Reject shop to get a cheap one. Now I will go to bunnings.

  • Crappy Woolworths version is more expensive!

  • Just curious how much bunnings charge to cut a key?

Hmmmm the Mrs is sending me out to get the twin pack. Going to have a good night me thinks

    • Make sure to get some chains as well…

  • Anyone know if this come with 3 keys or 2?

    • +1

      It comes with 3 keys.

  • Ok, I know this is just speculation, but I think $10 is the regular everyday price for this lock.

I know, PriceHipster shows some up and down, but I believe it is a bit much of a coincidence that the 'up' is exactly the price of a 2-pack. I think it is more likely that the web scraper PriceHipster uses to get their prices has a bug and confuses the 1 lock with the 2 pack sometimes.

The reason I come to this conclusion is that this lock fits very well into the other Lockwood prices. A higher quality version (120) costs a fairly constant $14 all the time.

Thanks for the post anyway and especially seedyrom for the link to the video. It's good to know that Lockwood is a lot better value than Masterlock.
