    $21 Cashback on $10 (Normally $30)

I read this as if it was normally $30 cashback and though… This is a terrible deal lol

  • +5

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I assumed all these sites used the same tech to track purchases? I go with whoever offers the best cash back at the time. I’ve had a few purchases missed with cashrewards in the past and have had a purchase missed with shopback.

I am not sure if it’s just been a good run or actually more likely to track but using the shopback app has been 100% for my last 7 purchases from 3 different sites, with most registered almost immediately.

    • +1

I go with the best offer as well, out of the 2 only ever missed purchase which was OVO deal during last click frenzy which had to be manually added after raising a ticket with CR. Holding out for CR to match SB for this deal and i will buy another SIM

    • I'm not 100% sure which one to go for but I am sure you are right that only one cashback will be approved if it is the same underlying affiliate partner. In that it will be at their discretion to whether to approve either or reject both cashbacks, if it were to be tracked.

I'm guessing they would do preliminary checks to see if someone didn't signup using the same name 10x or something…

  • +1

Could CR rep clarify my dumb question for me.
    1. as long a use a new email for amaysim website for this purchase, i am counted as a new amaysim customer for this cashback service?
    2. i can use my existing CR account for this purchase even if i took part in an earlier amaysim cashback sim purchase before?

    Cheers and many thanks.

    • Yes to both. The terms from this previous post will help, in particular dot point 3. Happy New Year :)

      • Is the cashback valid till 31 January or is the expiry referring to the 10FOR10 code?

        • +1

Both, provided amaysim doesn't change the terms/rates before then :)

          • @tightarse: Can I get this cashback if I have already gotten the $35 and the $40 cashback deals?

            • +1

@Zazer: Yep. One promo of each is allowed per CR account provided you meet all of amaysim’s terms.

  • Travelling to the Philippines, for anybody's experience would any of the amaysim sim's be useful for international calls and data?

  • What to pick as "current provider" for Kogan Mobile?

    • Vodafone

    • Isn't there Kogan?

      • Thanks, it's at the top, scrolled down to K though it was alphabetical.

  • +2

    Am I reading this correctly…

Purchase the $30/10gb SIM. Apply discount coupon which makes it $10.
    Cashrewards then cashback $21

    ?

  • Hi,
just to be clear - you are getting money from this deal?
    Thanks.

    • +1

Yes, as long as it is tracked still need to wait approx 95 days. ie standard CR conditions

      • Great, thanks for clarifying :)

  • After I activate the SIM (within 30 days), is there a minimum time period that I need to stay with Amaysim or I can port out after the 28 days usage period is over? TIA

  • I keep getting to the payment screen and it says "the server did not respond in time" after entering card details
edit: it let me pay via paypal.

  • Hmmm once i select the 10GB plan the cashrewards extension in chrome is no longer ticked. TA is this expected?

    • +1

Tested and working fine here. Can you try again and if it re-occurs please PM me. Thanks.

      • +1

OK looks like the tick stayed after clicking through this time, weird as i tried multiple times before. Hopefully it tracked and i completed the order.

  • My experience with these Amaysim deals is very negative.
Expect to get signed up for a recurring payment - I found mine difficult to cancel and then had threatening letters for an overdue amount of cash.
    Have others experienced the same?

    • I've never used them until this deal, but i just changed my payment method in the account section after signing up from credit card to bpay… i hope this negates any auto-nonsense by them?

      • If you paid using paypal, you can cancel the automatic payment to amaysim on your paypal account. To do this, login into paypal, settings (the gear button on top right) -> payments -> manage automatic payments -> cancel it

  • I have had a previous SIM with Amaysim but the last payment I made was in July 2017. I expected that would qualify me as a new customer. However, my account is still considered active by them and the page would not let me apply the coupon.

Anyone know if a different email adress will work or how long before I am no longer considered a current customer?

    • +1

Yes, new email address will work, have done up to a dozen times from all the CR and SB offers, gmail works well with 'username'+'number'@gmail.com ie. [email protected]

      • Thanks. Just successfully worked.

        • How long did it take you to receive the tracking email from cashrewards?

          • @excusemesir: I was surpised to see it so quickly. Confirmation from Amaysim was at 14:56 and the Cashrewards email was 15:02.

  • So it’s $11 profit after making this purchase correct?

  • Can I use the same details and postal address as the ShopBack one as long as I use a new email?

    • i am assuming yes, but hoping there is an increase in cashback before i try, expiry for this offer says 31/01/19. Anyone else want to weigh in on this question?

    • As per my post a couple of hours ago, I successfully used a new email address, but all other details are as per my existing account.

As they accepted me as a new customer then I expect it would work for you regardless of how recently you did the Shop Back deal.

      • Same. I finally found my tracking email in my junk folder even though email from CR has always gone to my inbox. So good idea to check there for the tracking email if you don't think you've received it yet.

  • What happens if payment fails yet the cashback still tracks?

  • Bought one about 20 hours ago but no tracking email from CR so might have to take this as a loss. I have found previously on these type of deals that only the Ovo ones haven’t tracked and now this one.

  • saying timed out after credit card payment, not tracked. :(

My SIM came pre-activated, so lost 4 days by the time I got it and put it in my phone. Asked via online chat to reset and the CSR said they can't do it anymore, but offered $5 credit. Asked why it can't be done as I'd read that this is a common occurrence and resets have been processed in the past. I then got a reset as a "goodwill gesture".

    • +1

Happened to me in the past. To avoid this in the future do not complete the ID verification check at the end when ordering the sim. Sim will come inactive as the ID check has not been completed.

      • Got an SMS later in the day saying "we noticed you've only just started using your amaysim SIM, so we've restarted your plan date so you get the most out of your plan". Not sure whether that was part of some automated process (what would've happened anyway) or related to my earlier contact with online chat.

Anyways thanks for the tip about avoiding this in future - I had assumed the ID check was mandatory :)

      • +5

Late comment but hopefully to help others in future.

I had heard this and made it a point not to enter any ID details during signup. But my SIM still arrived activated.

Spoke to Live Chat, they said the SIM activation date will automatically reset upon first use of the SIM.

I began using the SIM a few days later, 14 days after order. Waited 24 hours, activation date did not reset.

Spoke to Live Chat, they said it only auto-resets if you use it within 10 days of order. I told them that that isn't stated anywhere and I've now lost half my plan duration.

They offered $15 credit (half of $30 plan). I said not acceptable because $15 credit doesn't allow me to buy half a $30 plan, I have to fork out $15 cash.

They argued that that the system only allows a pro-rated credit and I said well this looks a lot like bait-n-switch. I paid for $30 28 day 10GB plan, I am getting 14 day 10GB plan and $15 of credit which can't be used to purchase 14 days w/ 5GB.

I said the right solution would be either reset my activation date, or give me $30 credit so I can actually buy a full 28 days w/ 10GB.

They were reluctant but when I asked if I have to go to the TIO to resolve they decided to give me $30 credit as suggested.

Despite the resolution I think the way they operate smells dodgy. Whether it's deliberate or just incompetence the reality is they send preactivated SIMs under the guises of "ease of use" that eats up customer's plan duration, and their "make good" is offered in a way that forces customers to spend more money.

        • Thanks!
          Helped me👍
Very handy info on Amaysim processes!

Today inserted 2 SIMs I activated on 30/1 (10 days ago!). Reset to 28 days😀

          Discussed in other Amaysim deal

        • Thanks for the info, @goosmurf.

I have found if you pay by credit card there is no option of inputting or omitting your ID. The credit card must automatically do it.

You need to pay with Paypal and then you can add your ID in your own time before activation.

          • @Ms Bargainer: Ahhh, that would explain it! Thanks for the tip, I'll try PayPal next time. :)

  • I got This Error and got double charged

  • I am sorry but I remember that this deal was supposed to end on 31st january right?

    • +1

You're correct as that is the date I have my reminder set to. Maybe because of the $35 Cashback deal they have ended this deal early.

      • Yeah I though so. I missed the $35 cashback deal as well since they closed it and changed it to $40. Other people got the $35 cashback deal and they can get the $40 cash back as well.

I've missed about 3 sim cards deal because they moved the deadline date.

The lesson here is to just get the sim card asap :D

  • Assuming we can't do this in addition to last nights $40 cash back, right? Without creating new accounts I mean.

    • +1

For anyone else curious. Just got confirmation from TA that they are separate promotions and can be used independently of the $40 (and $35) offers.

  • Does anyone know how many months do we need to stay to quality for the cash back, doesn’t say in the terms by TA. Or can we disable auto renew after activation?

    • +1

Never had an issue after the cycle finished and ported out, i normally change payment method to Bpay once i get the SIM and start using. If its a burner number (new number you do not intend to keep) switch to Bpay and it will automatically go to PAYG, SIM wont expire for a year

  • Does anyone know if the condition below from the other $35 and $40 cash back deals also apply to this deal to get the cash back?

    1. If you are an existing amaysim customer, you will need to create a new amaysim account with a new email address to be eligible for this offer.
    • +1

Always safer to use a new email.

      • +1

        Ok thanksie!

        • +1

If you have a gmail email, you can just add or remove a dot and it counts as a new one and you will still receive messages to your real email.

  • My 2c worth. I have taken advantage of 4 deals with Amaysim, 3 with CR and one with SB in last week or so. As an existing Amaysim customer i have used 4 variations of my gmail by moving dots in my email address. To keep it simple and to make sure they were activated on time I activated at end of signup process, not fussed about losing a few days service as others have mentioned. Upon receiving my first sim it was 5 days into 28 day plan already but after inserting sim i got a txt explaining that they would reset the 28 days as i was only just using it now. Btw all my cashback through CR and SB tracked almost immediately. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

  • Received the sim today, came pre activated. How do i verify? Also what to get witha new sim number? Uber is one!

  • +1

I bought my sim on the 12th Jan and activated on 8th Feb (within the 30 days as per T&C) but didn't put the sim in a device until today and I have a text message saying: We noticed you've only just started using your SIM, so we've restarted your plan date so you get the most out of your plan.
Just wondering if this will affect cashback?

    • +2

I've also asked the same question. But as the SIM was definitely activated (then expiry date reset) - should be ok.

As for resetting - if the SIM is first inserted within 10 days of activation, the Plan is reset to 28 days. Happened with all my Amaysim accounts.

    • Goddamn I really hope they've changed their policy/system and this works with one or more of the sim cards I've gotten recently. Just tried it then with a sim with one day left and I haven't received an sms from Amaysim yet despite that it's live.

      • Did you read the comment above yours??
        Already answered.

        • Right but in other comments people seem to have mixed reports of success for getting amaysim support to restart the usage period beyond 10 days after the automatic activation

          • @hetzjagd:

Just tried it then with a sim with one day left and I haven't received an sms from Amaysim yet despite that it's live.

Requesting a reset via support is totally different to the automatic reset discussed here - which had already answered.

Support has offered Amaysim credit if SIM was not used for a time after automatic activation - discussed in quite a few deals.

Would be good if you could provide a link to comment about "success for getting amaysim support to restart the usage period beyond 10 days after the automatic activation", as you say. It may be helpful for others in future.

However, comments above say Support can't do that anymore.
