https://www.bigw.com.au/product/huggies-ultimate-infant-napp… they're $24 at BigW as well, is it a bargain?

    • Look again. Just updated
Works out $19.20 per box before cashrewards

    • +3

$72 for 3 boxes at Big W vs $58 at Amazon. For families with young kids who go through nappies that is the best price I have seen (and I have 6 kids who have been through nappies!). Pity it is only the newborn size as they grow out of them really quickly

      • At the time I posted it was just $24 in the title, didn't realise it was significantly cheaper. I last bought at Amazon when it was $20 a box plus cash rewards.

  • I've my first baby coming end of next month, if i buy 3 boxes (96*3=288 nappies in total) is that too much? I read people say newborn use about average 5 nappies a day, that equates to 57 days worth of nappies.
Will she grow out of it too quick to use them all? Or is that not enough?
    Cheers

    • +3

We're 3 weeks into our second kid and between 5 and 7 is pretty spot on. Do it, you will use them. Also they say 5kg but it depends on the fit so you might get longer out of them. If born at 4 kg you will get 6-7 weeks until they hit 5kg

      • +5

Bear in mind Huggies tend to be a bit tighter than other brands for the same weight recommendation. Even then, agree with leeroys_dad, you will go through them.

Bulk buy and then return unopened to Woolies/Coles to swap for differing size. They do not ask for a receipt if you just want to swap. Sometimes Amazon come in different boxes though - but mostly not.

          • @o53djz7qTPY4der: Was just looking at woolies, they only have the 48 pack of the size 2 nappies, not the 96. Although could be just this woolies.

            • @kevlam3: Amazon will just deliver two packs of 48. At least, that's my experience.

              • +3

@o53djz7qTPY4der: Thats not been my experience, amazon delivers in brown boxes without the same coloured branding, even the nappies themself are have different winnie the poo patterns

                • @cloudy: I've actually bought from Amazon too, I'd say in the region of 4-500 nappies. You're right that the external packaging is brown but internally it has been the same. There was one time I was sent the smaller packets, ~36 packs I think, to make up for 72 boxes. Those were different to WW/Coles. Otherwise, mine have been the same. As I said:

We have always bulk bought and have never really had an issue with being left with boxes/packets of sizes that are too small. This is because we have always been able to return them to WW/Coles.

                  Perhaps we've just been lucky!

          • @o53djz7qTPY4der: Thats the trick, if you buy from woolies or coles its all one size and same box, you can swap without receipt for any unopened boxes. Same with big w.

I just went through 3x216 size 1's before we moved to size 2

      • Wow, how big was bubs? Mine is 3 weeks old and I feel like he's gonna grow out of size one by the time I finish the one box of 216.

        • +1

She was small 3.67, same as our son 3.8

But she also had a habit of doing chain poos. We'd change her and couple of mins later she would poo again, so change her again, then poo a third time and change again.

    • Thanks for all your reply & wisdom. Very much appreciated. Dr said baby is on the large side of the average 😂, so will see.

    • +1

Depending if your growth scan is predicting a 'big baby' or average size. If your bub grows out of them, you can give the unopened box out as presents.

      • Just read your msg. I'd go with two box max. Our second was born 4.85kg and only used most of the 1 box. Gave the other box as a present.

    • The same (before discount). Check your math

      • I thought $0.20c each for month supply and $0.25c for 3x 96 packs?

        • You don't get a discount on a 192 packs (less than $50)

          • @John: You do if you buy two of them. Ie just buy more than one size.

            • @Dowhatuwant: You do realise price before discount is the same per nappy? If you buy two you end up the same anyway

EDIT: Saw your other comment just now. Seems like a price jacking then

              • @John: Price jacking isn’t really the right term as the 20% off applied at the time too making it like 32 each when ordering more than one . I probably should’ve post the special but didn’t realise it was so good since my previous order was on prime day when they were $30.

      • Wierd, they were $40 two weeks ago when I ordered and that was before the 20% off.

  • +2

Awesome. Thanks so much. Just had new bub and he's a serial poop machine!! Been going through 10+ nappies a day…

    • +1

Up to 12/day is common enough at the start.
Not much coming out, but still need to change them

  • Still much more expensive than all the Nappies @Aldi, we are about to have our first baby can anyone comment on the Aldi brands vs the Huggis?

    • +2

Huggies all the way. I tried both and nothing beat the huggies for preventing leakage, smell and they were also more padded etc. When the Huggies are on sale you can stock up and they work out a similar price to Aldi. Good luck with the little one 🤗

    • Used both. Aldi nappies are just as good.

    • +2

We do aldi during the day and huggies at night

    • We mostly use Aldi, only using Babylove Cosifit at the moment as bub is between sizes. We find the Aldi ones quite big in relation to other brands for the same weight but no problems with them staying dry overnight.

    • First boy, HAD to be huggies. Everything else resulted in issues every day. Nights was never an option. Only huggies prevented wetting through (95% of the time), still needed plastic nappy covers.

Second boy, most brands have been fine. Had to take Huggies overseas, as their local ones were like from decades ago (I'm guessing). Nights, kinda has to be Huggies, and/or wrap nappy routinely high at front & 'doodle down'.

    • +3

Aldi nappies are great on my kids (about 17c each for a similar size).

I have bought the huggies nappies before through amazon (the deal wasn't as a cheap as this one) and IMHO the aldi ones perform fine. The Aldi ones are less 'soft' feeling and the design does not look as nice. But at the end of the day the kid is sitting in a pile of his own wee and poo, and the nappy is then thrown in the bin, so these things don't seem worth the 3 cent premium.

That 3 cents saves you $132 (@4 nappies per day, for three years), which if you invest in a compounding investment at a rate of 8% will net him/her about $40,000 when your kid retires (at 75).

But mostly it is a pain to have to store the mountains of nappy boxes and it is nice just to be able to buy a month supply at a time from Aldi and not need to wait for deals.

Do what most people do and try a few brands and see what fits your budget, convenience and baby's backside. Aldi are well worth a try.

  • Save 20% on orders of $50.00 or more on select Household & Pantry essentials.

Is this still valid? I thought it expired on Nov 31st

    • Yes, it’s still going, not continuously, but it’s a regular promotion.

  • Is this for size 2 only? I tried ordering 3 boxes of size 1, but didn't get the discount.

  • +1

Ordered! My daughter is just about in these. Perfect timing. We use huggies for nights and cheaper during the day. Stops any chance of leaks in our skinny leg kids
    Thanks for the deal

  • +1

    Thanks very much!
I notice you mentioned CashRewards but not ShopBack
    .
Will the discount be acceptable to ShopBack too?
    (I'm asking because I have a referral & they're running a promotion if you spend >$20)

  • +2

Was cheaper during boxing Day with 10% cashback and all one month supply priced at $39 or 18.7c per piece

    • yea, huggies nappies has been heaps cheaper than this multiple times.

      • +3

Gotta remember this is the Huggies Ultimate. There are cheaper Huggies such as the essential and the ultra dry

  • -4

Huggies is shit… Feels like sandpaper compared to Japanese nappies.

However it's good price for Huggies.

    • Anything constructive to add?
Like, share a deal for better product/price.

Cheers OP. 2 weeks in to my tour (baby mk 2). One less thing to worry about.

  • Perfect timing

  • What is the 20% Promotional Codes?

    • the 20% discount did apply at the very end. Do I need to put any discount code?

  • My first is due in a month. Thanks OP.

Can I please get some advice from the brains trust:
    Is 3 packs enough/too much?
Are any of the wipes worth getting? If so, which ones?
Anything else on the baby section?

    Cheers.

Most of the time, people will buy more (or receive as gifts) than you actually use…which is much better than running out!

If you do end up having too many, you can always re gift, donate or potentially swap out I suppose.

I know you must want to prepare as much as possible before your first arrives, but I would bet money that having too many nappies won't be a big issue once you have your baby…you'll have much higher priority things to worry about haha

Huggies wipes are a bit thicker, but seem to tear more easily than the standard Coles Woolies or Aldi ones. I would just buy a few different ones and see which ones you like. They are only a few bucks a packet.

Anything else on the baby section?

That's a rabbit hole question! You could buy every gadget and doodad they make or you can buy none. Your baby will most likely survive regardless. I reckon just see how you go. Congratulations and good luck!

For some reason, I added > $50 of items and then realised only the size 2 were included in the 20% off. I removed all other items and it kept the discount. My order was $48-$10. So all up paid $38.

Just received 3 x 96 nappies boxes. Look like normal boxes retail boxes to me.

    • Yep can confirm, mine retail too :)

      • Do yours have Dumbo on the nappies? First I've seen that…

        • +1

Yeh they recently changed packaging, it's Aus stock.

  • Heads-up…

    I received my order today for (1 x 96 nappies) and (3 x 480 wipes).
They sent me the correct nappies but only 3 x 240 wipes, bit disappointing.

    • Ignore this, each box has 2 x 240 bags and each bag 3 X 80 wipe packs lol

I read the label on box wrong (facepalm).
