What's a King Koil equivalent mattress elsewhere with reviews? Do you have any experience with King Koil, this mattress or similar? Is it worth it?

I sleep on one of these from Regal Sleep Solutions
The list price is similar to the price your relative paid for theirs - but I paid nowhere near this - it was more like $1200 and came with two memory foam pillows.
It certainly is a very firm and supportive mattress and I would recommend it. I am sure that if your relative wants to try one, that Regal would have a deal which would be a better price than the list price.

We have had a A H Beard branded one for over 10 yrs and it is very good value and still very comfortable.
It is not the same or similar to the one in the link, it is a pillow top style.
It is better than the other "big name brands" we have had.
$2.5k for a mattress seems high… what is so special about it for that price?

Rotate and vacuum it at least twice a year.
I think it was something like someone went for a walk, saw beds on sale in Domayne, went in to have a look, …, most likely "sold" it.

The last thing you want to find out is that someone paid half price for it and wasn't too impressed.
I had king koil medium range. it's was good experience. Last 4 years. Not forget rotate mattress. It's expensive compare basic mattress but not that expensive.
