The credit cards here are pretty tempting but I'm hopping from job to job quite often.
Just wondering what the typical minimum employment length is for any credit card application to be approved.
Typical Minimum Employment Length for Credit Card Application?
Comments
At least 6 month is typically required.
Mainly because you need to prove to the bank you can pass your probationary period at your current workplace.
Given the recent focus on credit lending I wouldn't be surprised with even 6 months maybe being too little of a time before applying.
Sounds reasonable… I'll just wait it out, then.
Why don’t you just apply? What have you got to lose?
What have you got to lose?
A hit to your credit rating?
…you also need to be earning above a certain threshold too……
Pretty sure I've been earning about "sufficient"… but got declined a few months ago when I was 2 months into a new job.
In that case I wouldn't even think of applying for another line of credit now.
Wait at least 6 months from your last rejection before applying again.
…well that "sufficient" would have to be their sufficient meaning and not yours…..
I tried out for Platinum membership at BankWest and got declined coz I was under the threshold….
They seem to be coming down on this a bit more recently requiring more proof of employment before approving the credit card.
You can get a credit card with a low limit on a low income even if just Centrelink benefits. Once you get a better paying job you can request a credit limit increase.
Changing jobs constantly may mean you fail their scorecard. I doubt there is any rule on how long to be in the same job for to be approved.
Went through this last year, 3 months
Which card was it? Was it one of the deals up here?
ANZ FF Black. I think it was up here (or something similar). At the time no annual fee for first year and 75k bonus Qantas points.
I see from another comment you were declined already? Maybe wait a while before you apply for another credit card
When I've applied in recent times they've always requested payslips up until 2 months ago.
