I already use Woolworths so much that they do not need to entice me with these baits.

Register a few cards and use one for a while, then switch when another starts getting the offers.
Soon enough they will target your first card with offers. Repeat.

  • +11

Its your own saving sitting in your account. You probably crossed 2000 points and recieved 10$ savings. Everyone gets it. Not an offer

    • For this reward account, I hardly used it.It never reaches to 100 points since I had this card.

      • I had 300 points and always use my partners card and I got the offer too :) Went to Big W and used it to bring Tomb Raider game down which was awesome

nothing here suggests this is not the standard your account has reached 2000 points.

personally i have not spent $2000 at woolworths in 2 years so have yet to get $10 OFF so either don't shop there anymore or not present card, i dont see a return in exchange to the valuable meta data they receive

Meta data is only good if they can figure out you're an emotional buyer. I only buy essentials on discount, so unless they stop discounting they are stuffed either way with data or not.

      • +1

Until they jack up the price of the essentials, and offer variable discounts. Nothing for people like you, but plenty for the emotional buyers, so that when you say ' This is outrageous! $20 for a loaf of bread?' they will say 'Yeah, but you get like $19 off it, so its not that much in the end'

        • You think if they do that there won't be other challengers? Aldi is one example. Or just go to the market, I live 3 blocks from a market. Supermarkets get a fraction of my shopping dollar.

@netjock: They'll all do it. You'll have choice, but there will be so many obstacles it will be almost impossible to navigate. There will be subscription fees for Plus! memberships like ebay and Amazon have. At the start when they're introduced it will be amazing, and you'll be stupid not to sign up, but once they have most people in their grips they will be free to set the prices to whatever they choose. And through using vast quantities of data, they can be very specific about it, setting the prices at just a tiny bit lower than it would take to make you take action. Because you pay a subscription fee, you'll be far less likely to switch providers, and markets? how long do you think they will last. All the supermarkets have to do is go to their providers and say 'If you sell to them we won't buy from you anymore'

not really because it also applies to essentials no less than impulse.

Time Date Location be used to establish behavioral trend of your travel.

can even inevitably link your account used at Torquay (TimeA) and Footscray (TimeB)
Now with 90% probability only 1 persons CCTV image spotted at both stores within time/date tolerance of A and B.

So there is high probability to match you your name age loyalty account to the surveillance image entering the door in future at Mulgrave January 20th.

That said it is already possible to do the above without being a member of a 'Loyalty' scheme as Debit and Credit cards can match a unique id to shopping list.
But having the Name and DOB is highly valuable for WW to sell to someone else including and particularly essentials.

        • All this data can also help to establish you were not doing anything illegal at the suggested point in time. In addition you can put in an untruthful DOB for WW long as you can remember it. If there is many sources to identify you therefore what is the additional level of paranoia. Just in case you decide to commit a crime? It is over the top these days.

          • @netjock: You have to put the real one if you want to get Qantas FF points.

            • +1

@Yola: You mean it is okay to give meta data to Qantas but not Woolworths just for some FF points. Hmmmm…

    • +1

I receive lots of $off and Qantas points but only about 20% though actual purchases. The majority is from the bonus points you receive when you activate special offers and spend X amount per week.

None of my 100 cards have been targeted.

    Time to get more cards

  • Woolworths and Cole's phishing spam is rampant at the moment Be careful what you click on.

    • For this one, you don't need to active it. Just scan it during shopping time. I got my free $10 groceries for this time.

As a sub I'd like to mention that Google Rewards pays more for your survey answer if you say you paid with a card. Paying with cash earns less money on the survey questions. Just a tip
