Hi all, another BigW TV deal!
Note that it's not FULL HD, but still a decent deal. I was trying to decide between this and the Full HD Sanyo 46". Delivery came to $15 for my area (TAS).

This site will soon be www.bigwbargain.com.au

    They are dominating.

  • WOW!!! thats so cheap

    1,024 x 768 for a 50", that's kinda bizarre. The old 50" units were 1366 x 768, and the 42" had 1,024 x 768

The "X" series is the budget one, hence the bizarro stretched pixels.. Cheap, but you get what you pay for really.

  • I nearly exploded when I saw it but sobbed when I realised it wasn't Full HD.
Wonder how it would compare to my Panasonic 46"? What's better, full hd or bigness?

    • +6

depends if you're trying to impress an enthusiast or a woman.

      • I'll keep the 46" full hd in my man cave and take the 50" to the missus' house.

Even though I've seen so called 'enthusiasts' fooled when shown bluray on a 720p HD set like this one. It is EXTREMELY hard to see the difference between a 1080P and 720P set, all else equal. There is more difference in the brand / panel quality than flat out resolution.

        • I can kinda vouch for that, seen it in person when we were looking for our TV last year. If you looked at 2 of the same, one playing 720P the other playing 1080P, at first glance they're the same, you keep looking and notice they're subtly different but you're not too sure, then you look closer and see the difference. But with 2 1080P TVs side by side, it's easy to tell the difference on first glance; you don't have to stare at it to see the difference.

  • sold out already

wow….. that's CHEAP! no wonder its sold out already.

finally retailers are passing on savings because of the strong aussie dollar.

gerry harvey needs to take notes!

Gerry Harvey is the major reason we pay so much for electronics in Australia, in my opinion. Gerry demands huge amounts of money from any supplier he deals with. Have you ever wondered why Gerry's companies push five year interest free so much? Well Gerry gets a huge kick back from General Electric for every aussie battler that he signs up to GE Money. GE money has a 29% interest rate.

The next time you look at an electronics product like a Denon receiver and wonder why is it double the price in USA, blame Gerry Harvey.

Look at the number of Consumer Electronic companies that no longer do TV business in Australia. Gerry Harvey's demands are largely behind the demise of Philips, Pioneer, NEC, JVC, Hitachi and Fujitsu in the tv market. Gerry you are one greedy b…..d.

    • Wow, I don't know much, but that really does make sense when you think about it. Thnx for that :)
