Samsung Powerstick Pro Stick Vacuum $359.10 (C&C or + Delivery) @ The Good Guys eBay

60
PRIZE

Not much on the internet about this vacuum but it's meant to be Samsung's competitor to the Dyson and LG stick vacuums. Normally retails for $699. The only place I could find any reviews was on the Good Guys website;

https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-powerstick-pro-stick-…

The other model of this vacuum comes with a "Soft Action Brush" but unfortunately is not available on eBay to take advantage of the coupon code, but on the Good Guys website at $499 (down from $799): https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-powerstick-pro-vac-wi…

Official video from Samsung: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZZJ8TJkAw4

Note: Both models come with one battery but additional ones can be bought from Samsung for something like $149? (I think). As seen in the video, batteries can be swapped in and out.

  • I can't find any real reviews for this, ones that compare it to Dyson. I want to buy it but want to see the reviews first.

    • Check out the user reviews on the Good Guys site for both models (different sets of comments), that's all I could find online

      • None of these reviews are comprehensive. And to be honest, single paragraph user reviews I don't take very seriously. A lot of them don't know what they're talking about or misunderstood what the product aims to deliver because they didn't read properly.

If there is no price difference, I would go with Dyson.

    • There is.

      • +1

Well, Dyson V7 sold for $349 and was $299 on Boxing day.

        • V10 is $1000 or $800 if not 20% off. Which one do you want to compare it to?

          • @lostn: Are you saying this Samsung Vacuum is far superior to V7?

            • @ozizoy: Samsung themselves claim this was stronger than the V8 and the strongest cordless vac on the market but then that was before Dyson released the V10.

            • +1

              @ozizoy:

Are you saying this Samsung Vacuum is far superior to V7?

I have no idea. That's what I'm trying to find out.

I haven't seen any in depth reviews. When the product was new, a few sites said it gave the V8 a run for its money (V10 was not released yet). But that wasn't a comprehensive review.

You say if there's no price difference, you'd rather get the Dyson. But then which Dyson? If it was the same price as V10, I would get V10 also. But if it's the same price as the cheapest $200 obsolete model, I would take the Samsung.

What I know is that it's easier to clean the attachments and dust bowl than Dysons, and the battery is removable and replaceable. This is useful if you need to vacuum longer than one battery will last, or when the battery reaches end of life, you can just replace it. The Dyson you can't.

Does it suck up dust better than a Dyson? That's what I've been trying to find out for weeks now.

What is the claimed battery life on the V7?

Samsung themselves claim this was stronger than the V8 and the strongest cordless vac on the market but then that was before Dyson released the V10.

I can get the $799 model for $438 via EPP. I expect the Dyson V10 Absolute+ to be better, but at double the price I don't think it is going to be twice as good.

            • @ozizoy: Dyson is 7 cells, this is 9. So higher voltage. Should mean more power. That said, looks like the Dyson uses 2600mAh cells and the Samsung you'd think they'd use 25Rs, but no looks like only 1600mAh, so the Dyson actually has more capacity total.

  • +1

I am also looking for real reviews from our fellow ozbargainers V10 absolute+ against this one.
I know few battery power & bin size. I really want to know if it really works well on both carpet & floorboards also girls hair a big trouble.?? lol

    • +1

V10 is still far superior in my opinion. This competes more with V8 and LG A9. Samsung one has heads for both carpet and floorboards. Girl hair, it will be like Dyson where it wraps around but you can open up both heads to cut the hairs.

      • +1

V10 is about double the price if not on special. I have doubts it is double as good though.

  • For the price you can't go wrong.

Samsung is making good TVs but I don't trust the brand for Appliances.

    • +2

With that in mind, this could turn out to be a great flame thrower.

    • I would argue that their TVs are crap as well (bigger marketing budget doesn't mean better quality televisions particularly from the OLED competition). Only thing they really excel in is smartphones and SSDs. Own three Samsung air-con units and all of them failed more than once within three years. Meanwhile my 10 year old Daikan's are still going strong. Would never trust Samsung as far as appliances go.

  • It seems be to better than dyson v7?

  • Reason reviewers comments on product review etc the census says that LG>Dyson>Samsung

  • Plus the capacity is TINY!

  • -5

Samsung is a dodgy company - exploding appliances, phones, TVs, etc and then they try and buy off anyone that tries to speak out about it. I certainly wouldn't touch this, not even with an extendable vacuum pole.

    • I hope they can buy me off. I'm for sale any time.

  • is this model aiming for dyson v8?

    • As my comment above, they are. They advertised it against the V8 prior to the existence of the V10.

Was researching before Xmas and ended up with the lg a9master2x. Love it. No need to hold the trigger to keep it activated, swapping the batteries to keep going(comes with 2 batteries), current promo for more attachments, no need to mount the charger to a wall because it has it's own stand (can charge both batteries at the same time), wife was impressed that I actually used it . Hugely underrated imo. No I'm not related to lg just a happy customer!

    • +2

How much did that one cost? It's RRP is $1000.

$674 for the a9master2x from looks of it

        • That's only from his store.

But it's cheaper on Bing Lee ebay with 10% off code. $610 + $10 shipping.

I paid using 3x $200 ebay GCs that I bought at 10% off, so ended up paying $560.

It was an impulse buy because that 10% off code expires today, or may have expired already. I was under pressure. Tried to do as much research as I could on both the LG and the Samsung, but couldn't find any decent reviews in english. They just aren't popular.

I do like that the Samsung unit's dust bin can be detached from the gun, making it cleaner to empty. You can put the dust bin deep inside a shopping bag and release it there so the dust doesn't fly everywhere.

by the time you buy the second battery for this machine you're probably better off getting the LG that comes with 2 batteries.

I have the LG pet n bed model that comes with 2 batteries and the power punch upholstery attachment. I think i paid around $560 after 20% off bing lee ebay discount.

Personally the biggest advantage of the LG vs Dyson (i had the DC59) is that:
    1. has its own stand so you can leave it out where its easy to get to and use it several times a day
    2. two batteries and generally a longer battery life (has 3 power modes, though you'd probably rarely use the weakest)
    3. easy to clean filters (comes with two so you can wash one and use the other whilst it dries)
    4. dont have to hold the trigger

    Biggest disadvantage:
    1. weight distribution doesn't feel as balanced as the Dyson. This is actually a pretty big deal if you want to vacuum things up high like cobwebs.
    2. I find it hard to empty the bin so it's completely clean. The dyson you could easily disassemble the whole thing with one press.

    edit -
ok maybe i should read the instructions next time or google it. Found how out how to clean the bin properly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45N-OY9C5do

    • Based on your testimony, I went and purchased an LG. I went for the A9Master2X one.

I do like the stand. I know you can wall mount any stick vacuum's dock, but I don't want to put permanent holes in the plaster.

Two batteries is very convenient. Though I look at the batteries and they look significantly smaller than Samsung's one. If they have the same battery life (both claim 40 mins), then the Samsung must be stronger.
