Free Fortnite: Save The World Game if Eon Skin Pack Purchased (Xbox One, Download) from xbox.com

130

Recently, some Xbox One console bundles had included the Eon Skin pack DLC for Fortnite Battle Royale, such as this one. The DLC is exclusive to the Xbox One.

The problem is that the "Full Game" text on the top banner of the card was ambiguous, since Fortnite: Battle Royale (free) and Fortnite: Save the World (paid) are two separate games, and the Full Game actually refers to the former, a game that is already free. This led to some anger and confusion, including some to believe they would get the latter for free.

As a result, Epic Games (the developers) decided to rectify this by offering all present and future owners of the Eon Skin pack a free copy of Fortnite: Save the World. They will retroactively grant access to Fortnite: Save the World to those who redeemed the DLC in the coming weeks. This was posted by the official Epic Games user on Reddit, with the excerpt below;

Hey everyone,

We agree that the messaging on the Xbox One S Fortnite Bundle was unclear and so will be granting free access to Save the World for those who purchased the bundle.

We are going to begin identifying players who have claimed the Eon Bundle and will be granting their accounts access to Save the World. We will also make sure that all future players who claim the Eon Bundle will be granted access to Save the World moving forward.

If you already had purchased Save the World and claimed the Eon Bundle, we will be granting you an additional 2,000 V-Bucks.

We hope to have an update shortly on the exact timing of entitlements.

UPDATE 12/27 - We'll begin the process of granting retroactive entitlements early next week when our offices reopen for the new year. We will provide an additional update on the progress of the grants around that time.

TL:DR - Eon Skin DLC for Fortnite Battle Royale now comes with Fortnite: Save the World game for free.

  • Also, the news of Fortnite: Save the World becoming Free-to-Play in 2018 is now delayed to sometime in 2019, presumably due to the wild financial success of Fornite: Battle Royale.

For the time being, Save the World is still a paid game and is available for $29.98 from xbox.com..

    • How do you buy the ‘Eon Skin Pack‘ doesn’t appear on the Xbox store

      • It’s only available from select Xbox One console bundles. It is presented as a download code on a card.

        • Ahh not really obtainable then

This isn't a deal. This is just Epic fixing a mistake.

    • By they are fixing the mistake with compensation. Hence, the deal is a free $30 game if you have the skin.

    • Deal in my book

  • (profanity), for a sec I thought this was just like a standard skin you could buy for like 10 bucks or whatever.

I was gonna race out and snag a cheap copy of the BR disc version (for my physical collecting desires), use the VBucks to buy the skin, and then have STW as well. (profanity).

    • Too bad the Eon skin is exclusive to Xbox One console bundles, as it’s fetching for more than $75 on eBay.

I take you have already purchased the Deep Freeze bundle from Amazon?

  • Fortnite is a free? I just paid $30 from Amazon.

    • Which one are you referring to?

"Fortnite: Battle Royale" is free and "Fortnite: Save the World" is paid
