Best Places to Buy Home Furniture & Items?

I will be fitting out an apartment in Melbourne almost entirely from scratch in the coming months.

Thus, I'll be looking for a bed (including bedding), dining table/chairs, couch, household items (eg vacuum, iron), laundry items (eg washing machine) and kitchen items (eg pots/pans).

I'd prefer to buy most things new as I won't have a car so buying things off Gumtree will be an enormous hassle.

And I'd prefer to buy reasonably priced yet reasonably reliable items. Overall budget will probably be around $7,000.

Having never done this before, are there any places/website I should check (apart from OZB!)?

My thinking is to go to IKEA for most items but also check out Amazon, DFOs and the big department stores for any discounted items, especially kitchen items (eg pots/pans).

I'm also investigating places like Koala for my bed.

Super Amart: Reasonably priced and moderately well built.
Fantastic Furniture: Cheap price and looks cheaply built.
Ikea: DIY and can range from cheap to good quality and priced.

only buy a bed from super amart if you weigh < 80kgs. I bought one as a spare 10 years ago, and it snapped first night and i am 100kg. i had to buy more wood and rebuild it.
