OP tell us what it is like to watch standard def cricket on 7mate with this monster. I wonder if it will even look like cricket after all the upscaling nonsense that will happen.

    • +15

Nonsense? The issue is the low source resolution on such a large display, not the upscaling.

    • Probably look like basketball with all that extra pixels lol

    • You can see even more cheating.

  • +1

Who's to say the op bought it to watch cricket. I certainly wouldn't be using 'cricket watching' as a measuring stick when purchasing a $2000 TV. Soccer and AFL I can understand.

    • +2

or table tennis, archery, bowls or…

      • or synchronised swimming….

    • You are dead to me if you don't watch cricket.

  • Watching normal TV in this is annoying as hell as looks so poor. But streaming does a great job

    • Is there any other such large 75" TV which looks allright with normal TV or all of them looks pixeleted?

      • +1

Yep, just watch from more than 20m away :-)

        • Lol.. Thanks mate.. I think I will stick to Tv size suitable for the room rather than going by bigger the better.

@amsaini15: I have a 75" TV and sit 6 meters away and don't find it big at all. If anything I wish I went for 85".

From that distance normal HD content does not look pixellated at all. It actually looks quite clear. But that's because I'm sitting too far away and can't resolve individual pixels. So the 4K resolution is being wasted at that distance.

The optimal viewing distance depends on resolution and size. For 4K TVs, it's recommended you sit 1-1.5X the diagonal length of the screen.

It's actually the opposite of what you think. TVs are too small not big for the typical living room.

If you're seeing this at HN/JB you are standing too close. If you stand at the actual viewing distance in your living room, it won't look this bad. But from that distance, you will find the TV you bought is too small and many details are not noticed when viewing 4K content. But your FTA TV will still look fine.

That would put me in next doors master bedroom. She's only been divorced 6 weeks - too soon?

No real positive feedback on this TV as yet though. I'd like to know from someone who actually had this TV.

I have this tv for last 3 months. Got it from Costco when they had a 600$ off promotion. (Thanks to one of the deals posted here) I believe it is also on a special in the current Costco catalogue.
I havenā€™t hooked it up with free to air tv but have it on my Vodafone tv + kodi and I am very happy. I donā€™t understand judder etc but I was watching the India v/s Australia cricket match (on kodi of course) today and the quality was very impressive.
I must also say that I wasnā€™t totally happy with it when I was using the built in YouTube app, but itā€™s definitely impressive with my Vodafone tv.
I was only interested in a big screen and was not planning on using any of the ā€œsmart tvā€ features since it would have always been hooked up to some sort of tvbox, so I am not too fussed.
After my 3 months of use I am certainly happy with the buy.
      Hope this helps someone!

      • how much you bought it for? thanks

        • From memory it was $2250 and like Sam001 says, it might be even cheaper now.

Costco is selling this at $2099.99 + pick up until 31 Dec.

Bought one from Appliance Central last week, took them 3 working days to dispatch. Still stuck at depot now.

  • Size matters.

My cousin has this. The colours look a bit wierd if you are sitting towards the side of the TV. I notice a soap opera effect as well

Other than thay it is awesome

    • +1

The soap opera nearly definitely a motion setting out of the box that your cousin hasn't turned off (or maybe turned on).

      • Agreed. I asked her twice and she didn't seem to notice it or care.

    Curved : No

    Phew. Glad thatā€™s over…

I have installed this TV and tested it at work. Streamed a few 4K Youtube videos along with using it with a computer for PowerPoint etc.

It is a 100 hz TV but haven't noticed gitter on motion such as surfing or watching dolphins swimming around. The sound is impressive using the inbuilt speakers. Bought this for work when Samsung had their AFL promo. Dam has the price dropped on this model. Has the usual connectivity as with most Ultra TVs.

How fast is this TV with a PS4 or that other console? I can't tell you but I can say the colours are punchy with the default settings.

Also the TV is light, have it installed on a drop down pole from the ceiling, worked with the existing universal TV mount. It came with the spacers required for a wall mount, just had to buy the bolts from the hardware store.

  • How does this compare to the 75P7? Since this is Samsung which is held in higher regard but is significantly cheaper?

  • Good value!!

I am having hard time finding proper reviews of mid range TVs…

  • Does it have local dimming? Some reviews say the 75ā€ does but the 65ā€ doesnā€™t. Br confusing.

  • Nice price for a 75 inch, but it is Samsung's entry level.
I'd probably go for the Q6 65 inch for similar pricing at the moment and sit a little closer but that's personal preference.

Here's a nice explanation of the differences: https://youtu.be/UIEmjCrslvw

  • Tempted but their delivery and customer services seems to be a disaster from many recent purchasers/reviewers (both Ebay and Product Review)
This company phone seems to be engaged and their website blocked by Kaspersky due to some security reasons.
Not worth the trouble! Might get it from elsewhere

An alternative for some select users with access to 3 AmEx Cards, you can get this TV for $1837 from Domayne. You'll need to do it in store to split payments or purchase 3 lots of $750 gift cards and then pay with them (you can also purchase from Harvey Norman, Domayne gift cards work there). Not a big saving but some might prefer getting it from a physical store and the option for free pickup.

  • +2

Got in on some 15% off eBay gift cards and manged to get this for $1815 shipped. Although it is an entry level model, for the price I think I did alright :)
