If I never played one, is it worth getting this, or buying number 1 on the switch eshop?

  I haven't played no. 1 and I've put 50 hours into 4 on switch. I have heard some fans say that they think the story is better in the 1st game but without a point of reference, the story in the 4th game is entertaining enough and "kooky" in a Japanese way.

  I believe the remaster on eshop has all DLC included and is a lot cheaper than this. Both games are very similar in terms of gameplay but VC4 has minor improvements and a new class.

      Ah I see, perhaps wait for a sale and combine with the discounted eshop cards then. Both games are a solid choice.

    I held off on buying the Switch port of the original game, I've read it has god awful FPS problems. Hopefully it gets fixed.

  There is a demo for 4 on the eshop so maybe give that a try before buying it.

  Definitely worth it. It was really fun playing this one, and the new mortar class is really interesting.
