TV, ~ $500, ≥40 Inch

Hi OzB,

I'm after a moderate size, reasonable quality TV to stream Netflix and connect to my PC, with a budget of around $500.

I don't need reception for commercial channels, and the TV doesn't need to be particularly smart.

I get the feeling it's not worth buying second-hand. Research suggest brands like TCL and Hisense may be what I'm looking for.

Bigger is nice but I'd rather a decent 40" than an ordinary 50".

Any advice on specific technology, model specifications or links to sales would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I read some general feedback on Bauhn and it seems they're not regarded favourably.

I know my budget is low but I think I'd prefer to go for a slightly higher tier TV - spending a bit more if necessary.

  Not a bad option, thanks. Hard to find reviews for that model - not sure if it's better or worse than the Hisense.

I saw a Bauhn 50" UHD Smart TV for 399 at Aldi yesterday!
Seems like quite a bargain for me

  Yep, cheap for a 50" UHD Smart TV but reviews are not favourable for the Bauhn experience (as in first comment).

Fluffed around a bit after changing my mind with the purchase but happy with the final outcome.

First buy was a Hisense 50" (cancelled), $660
Second was Samsung 43" (cancelled), $680

Finally got the Sony Bravia 49" (X70F) for $680 after cashback. Got a bit excited and bought one for my dad too :/
