Great shoes for squatting, I've used both adipowers and romaleos but prefer these.

How much weight are you squatting that requires special shows?

    • Good question. I have always preferred bare foot (because Elliot says so)

      • +3

Stilettos are what the hard core lifter wears.

      • I don't really like shoes that compensate for a lack of dorsiflexion but a good flat solid shoe platform allows you to spread the load more evenly across the ground.

Also going barefoot in a commercial gym is inconsiderate.

        • going barefoot in a commercial gym is inconsiderate.

          And usually not allowed.

          • +2

@Diji1: Allowed (at least socks only) in any gym actually worth training at

        • That's why I never attend commercial gyms. Have all equipment at home, including a home made platform.

They aren't required by any means, but for alot of people they provide much more stability and a solid base that allows them to lift with better form and safety.
The elevated heel is also good because alot of people don't have the ankle mobility to hit proper depth with a narrow stance (such as myself). I would personally never go back to lifting in runners or barefoot (except for deadlift).

        Do you even lift bro?

        • +1

Yes I lift beer to my mouth

    • -1

Anything over 100kgs I think you should be wearing shoes like this

      • -1

        lol. That's ridiculous.

I barely squat because of an injury I have (so I keep it light), I do 5 x 10 x 130kg and I just wear normal sneakers without an issue.

        • +2

I wouldn't wear sneakers. You want a hard sole (like dress shoes).

        • +6

Guarantee your form is off lol

        • Lol. Better you are still lifting more than most people in the gym.

        • Wow you’re cool. Squatting in sneakers over 100kgs is just dangerous. Keep doing it

          • @swxfty: IDK about that - I wear Chuck Taylor's which can be classed as sneakers - 180kg no worries - no belt either just sleeves. You just need something hard, flat and stable. Oly shoes help with poor dorsiflexion but if your flexibility is fine they're more likely to shift your weight forward and cause injury if you don't know how to squat.

            • @Wilburre: I'd take a belt over sleeves anyday! Not sure why people squat heavier weights without a belt, there's no way you can match the abdominal pressure without one. Stabilize and protect your spine man!

              • @whitelie: I do have a belt for heavier weights or doing reps at heavy weight:) I just try to minimize using it at lower intensities so that I am actively bracing - my mind gets lazy sometimes when I wear the belt and I go into autopilot - my coach and I are training me to use my brace effectively consistently.

                • @Wilburre: Why do you have a coach?

                  • @[Deactivated]: Because im lazy and unfocused - coach gives me focus and programming to follow. I dabbled on my own for a few years and wasn't getting anywhere. Got a coach and he helped me to fix/improve my form and called me on the way I was cheating myself on some of the movements.

                  • @[Deactivated]: I have a coach….but I do compete.

But a coach is great for a lot of people even if they don't compete

They have way more knowledge than I do a f get my training and diet both on point.

They are also a mentor and confidante in my life. I look up to them. When I am struggling during prep, they guide me through it.

            • +1

@Wilburre: Sorry I meant runners. Chucks are perfect.

              • @swxfty: Flat and hard is what you want! And something you can't roll your ankle in.. haha

          • @swxfty: Bullshit. 100kg is nothing.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: 100kg is a lot for beginners wtf are you on about? Please go back to bodybuilding.com forum hero

              • -3

@swxfty: Beginners don’t have fancy lifting shoes

    • Have you ever lifted 200kg's off a squat rack ?, It's a very unforgiving sensation.

      • You should see how it feels when you do 300kg. You lose a centimeter of height for life every time you do it.

  • +1

Have they fixed the bug from version 3.0 which wouldn't allow me to lift more than 100kg?

    • Does it now come with a canvas bag as advertised?

  • +1

Why do you prefer these over the Adipower’s? Also, do they fit the same? I have the adipowers but bought a size or half a size too big. They still feel fine but look a little longer than my usual shoe. Wouldn’t mind getting the black in these cause my adipowers are the orange/red colour.. wish they had black ones back when I got them

  • +4

I might wear these on my wedding day for when I have to carry my wife across the threshold.

PS - Are they rated for a maximum lift weight?

    • too much junk in the trunk… XD

  • +3

When I visit the family in the old country they have a squater
    toilet, these will be perfect

    • mate… you must be doin heavy poos😀

  • Delivery isn't free?

  • I was thinking of getting the Leitsungs because I've seen reviews saying the Leitsungd have a sturdier heel.

Does anyone have any opinions on the power lifts vs the leitsung?

Powerlifts are cheaper but I have an injury that needs stiff support for the feet.
