[Pre-Order, Switch] Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled $54.99 (RRP $69) @ OzGameShop

90

OzGameShop has Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled for Nintendo Switch available to pre-order at $54.99. JB and EB have the RRP listed as $69.
No listings for the game are available on Amazon AU at the time of writing this post. The XB1 and PS4 versions of the game are also available for $54.99, but as Switch prices are sometimes a little more for physical games due to cartridge manufacturing costs, this seems like the better deal.

Glad I saw this, I had no idea this was coming out.

Note: Release date for the Switch version has yet to be confirmed.

  • If you had have released a trilogy of Crash racers (or even just CTR and the CRIMINALLY underrated CTTR) I'd have thrown 50 at you in a heartbeat, but when the Crash HD trilogy dropped for pretty much this price every where, and it included 3 glorious games, well, it makes this follow up release with only one game a bit of a tough sell.

Would have loved if there was a heavy discount on a digital version for owners of the trilogy. I bought it day one on Switch and PS4 and would do it again, but 55 as the (current) best price, for a single PS1 remaster, is just too much. Spyro 1,2,3 was 50 at launch at most places too, for shit's sake.

Unless Big W / Target decide to sell this for 39 or so at the absolute most day one, I'll stick with my PSN version, that can be played on PSP, PS3, PSV, PSTV, and features cross saving between all those versions.

    • The psn versions are stuck on 50 Hz right?

I’d rather this standalone over those 3 games, personally I played CTR more than any other Crash game and more than any Mario Kart. So I’m happy to pay $50 at launch.

That being said, I’d wait to see what retail does closer or at launch personally.

Can almost guarantee this will be $49 at Amazon

Based on previous deals for similarly priced games I’d say $59 or $55 at launch, $49 after a month or 2

      • +1

IIRC Spyro was $49 launch day at JB same with Crash

I guess we’ll see, personally I had a $10 player points voucher to redeem so this works out cheaper for me either way. Other people might also find value in that.

  • Honestly, by the time it gets here with OZGS' snail mail, I'd bet there is a cheaper local deal IE Amazon. Also general rule is to never pre-order video games.

I reckon Amazon will have it for about the same. If you have player points to redeem then this will likely be cheaper overall.

Bad general rule. When the Crash trilogy released on PS4, it sold out almost everywhere on day one and was difficult to find in stores for a week or so afterwards.

How is a pre order a deal?

    • +2

It’s $14 cheaper than the closest advertised price at other major retailers; how is it not a deal?

  • +1

The earliest release date is the 21st of June 2019, no need to rush and place a preorder for 6 months.

    • That's the PS4 version. Switch version most likely November.

The real deal here is keeping 54.99 in your bank account rather than someone else's for 11 months instead of buying literally nothing right now.

Not much of a philosophy for anyone with player points about to expire. $45 spent now seems a better deal to me now than $55-$69 at launch.

    Mario kart or gtfo
