Not bad, shame you can't use discount code and voucher (payment method) in the same transaction

Edit - just saw you added the T&Cs, so it's a bonus voucher, not 40% off the total spend?

No good then, you will be paying full price for your two orders!

    • I've updated it to make it clearer

was just on chat with youfoodz
u can use the discount code with the gift card so basically ur paying $60 for $100value of items

  • I'm a bit confused, so you can't use the gift card in conjunction with any discount code?! Or just not with the promotion credit for this offer?

    • You can use the gift card with anything, but you can't buy another gift card with the $10/$20/$40 off discount that you get sent, and you can't use the $10/$20/$40 off they send you with any other offer. So you can use the gift card with future offers, and use the $40 coupon to get $40 off a $49 order. The $20/$10 off coupons aren't really much/any better than the regular offers they give without a gift card that require a min spend of $49/$59/$69.

Basically gift cards can be used with any purchase. The discount codes (including the 'bonus' you're sent with this) can only be used one per purchase.

Cheers, that makes a lot more sense since gift cards are payment methods and not an offer in and of itself.

  • Can we use the giftcard in two transactions?

"Your bonus discount will be unique and can only be used once."
      It doesn't look like it.

Can gift card be used for delivery?

      • Delivery is free - unless Perth.

        Hmm… might buy 2x $50 then.

        • Yeah it's $20 delivery in regional NSW :(

    • Yes. I have done this, three even and counting. One with the $40 off I was sent, then twice more with $30 off etc offers.

  • Nice so if I buy $100 gift card then use the $40 code on top making it $60 spend leaving me still with $40, or perhaps Better to use it in one go?

    • Don't do that. Buy $100 gift card, spend $49. Use $9 off the gift card and the $40 voucher, you'll have $91 of gift card left and $49 worth of stuff. So 'so far' $100 spent and $140 of value. But then when there's a future discount, you can blow through the $91. (eg, if there's another $30 off $69 spend (or similar hypothetical future offer), you can do that twice and still have $13 left on the gift card. So then you'd have spent $100, have a $13 voucher left and $187 of food. So basically 1/2 price at that point, better again if you use the last $13 left on the gift card with a further offer.

Worst case (very unlikely case), they don't run any offers in Jan and this is only $140 for $100. (Or I suppose they go out of business and your gift card is worthless, but that's why you purchase with credit card I guess).

Best case you can use the $40 off on a week they're discounting the menu directly (they don't usually run good $ off coupons those weeks). Though you do only have the next month to spend the $40 off, but you have 3 years to spend the gift card.

  • The $40 off is on a $49 min order. So you can do a $49 order with $9 off the gift card, works especially well when they have a week of 1/2 price snacks or $7.95/$8.95 meals (I used mine to get ~$100 of snacks (RRP) for $9 the other week when they had 1/2 off). Then whenever they do another $20 off or $30 off, use the gift card for another 2+ orders.

The $100 card + $40 voucher is the best because the min order is the same no matter which voucher you get. So $20 off a $49 min spend isn't great (and the $10 voucher is downright near worthless). But $40 off a $49 min spend is great, and you can use the gift card in conjunction with future offers.

Effectively this is 80%+ off a $49 order, which is downright exceptional.

    • You can't use the gift card or the bonus discount with any other offers or discount codes. You won't be able to use their future $20 off or $30 off offers with the gift card.

      • You can. I HAVE (this isn't speculation, I placed and received the order using the $40 of and paying the rest of the order (to min value) using the gift card. You can use the gift card with anything. (This confirmed above by someone else who chatted with YouFoodz if you don't believe me)

You just can't use the bonus discount with other bonus discounts. (But you can use it when the % off is on menu items.)

Nice down votes from people who have NFI and haven't tried it. I really don't care if you do, the less people know about this the more likely they are to run another decent offer in the next few weeks while the bonus discount is still valid.

Note this also worked 3-4 months ago when they had the $125 gift card value for $100 as well. (You could use that with anything). Which is I'm guessing why they made this a 'bonus' offer, where you can only use the gift card portion with anything, but the bonus part has to be used separate from other bonus parts.

        • Thanks - clear explanation. Contradictory to advice provided by youfoodz when they first launched gift cards I asked if I could use the gift cards during promotional periods and was told no could only apply one “voucher” at a time.

          • @lousy: Yeah it's weird they go in the same box, but you can apply multiples. I think I've even applied multiple gift cards with a discount as well but I can't remember for sure. Looks like per insider2's comment they've changed the advice. I've only been using them for a few months, so not sure how long ago this was a thing. I know plenty of other stores have technical limitations preventing things like multiple gift cards (they are genuinely tech limitations rather than a conscious choice).

  • Can you claim the $40 bonus more than once?

    • Sure - but you'll do two separate transactions just to be safe.

There doesn't seem to be a limit.
