About time we get something useful out of IBM.. considering the money my employers spend on them a year.

I'm very familiar with IBM. They're certainly dummies.

  • Nice one!

The filenames for some of the PDFs are incorrect and correspond to some other book. Perhaps someone can investigate, maybe there are more free ebooks to be had!

      That someone could be you…

    • There probably is more but this is all I could find at 1130pm Finnish time.

  • Thanks for these, right in time for holiday reading

    • I feel like creating another account, so I could upvote this twice.

    • ROFL, I've bookmarked this lol.

  • Damn I was looking forward to these but man are they dissapointing! These aren't meaty or detailed at all. Like the API and Spark ones are just 40 pages of basic blabber. These reviews say it all: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25033065-apis-for-dummie…. Pamphlets IBM gives out at trade shows seems an apt description!

    • They are for dummies. For in depth read, please see the learn XYZ in 1 hour books.

If you're looking for some top IT books I can 150% recommend Scott Muller.
His books are incredibly well written, jam packed with information and are also entertaining to read, his books also come with a DVD with a few hours of great video and previous editions in PDF.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any particular ones you would recommend for networking?

        • +2

General and home networks are covered in the upgrading and repairing PC's series, I believe the latest is the 22nd edition.
There is upgrading and repairing networks 5th edition, but it was published in 2006 and I don't believe there is newer edition.

You might find this link to books on networking useful.
          Scott's books
Scott's Forum, pretty much inactive but there's lots of useful material to read/browse.
Toms Hardware is an excellent resource, and if you ever need IT help people on there know their stuff.
Scott's DVDs uploaded onto YouTube, he doesn't bother to get YouTube to take them down lol.

I can definitely recommend to get upgrading and repairing PC's 22nd edition.

  • I was wondering if we can listen to the eBooks, perhaps some kind of tools?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob

Started reading the machine learning one, it isn't written very well and reminds me of my high school essays where I would try to use the longest words possible to sound smarter and pad out all the sentences to meet the word count criteria :-/ Not well edited.

    • I mean, they were probably written in a way that dummies could understand.

      • I think they're written in a way dummies CAN'T understand…?

  • How will I download all of these?

    • +1

I think you need "Save Link As for Dummies", except they haven't written that yet…

    • Google Drive is your friend.

    Thank you OP!

Thank you @Chibot. These short-form books are great for folks who just need to know enough. Agree that verbage can make reading difficult, but hey they are free and I can live with that.

  • Here is a search of "dummies ebook" of the resource…lots of other "IBM" related information here too?
