Cheaper than some, more expensive than others.
Thanks for clearing that up…
No worries jv. Just wanted to say you are a legend.
How does this compare to travel insurance through credit cards etc like Commonwealth bank Platinum
I'm always a bit dubious on the free insurance from commbank. They use Allianz so they are supposed to be reputable. Haven't had to claim so I can't complain. I think the worst thing to try to claim is delayed flights due to weather. But they are all basically the same, if you make sure you declare any pre-existing medical conditions then you should be fine for medical emergencies / accidents. Don't forget that no one will cover you if you are under the influence…
Medibank are also offering 2 weeks free (medical only) travel insurance for Members:
"You're eligible for 2 weeks FREE International Medical Only travel insurance^, which includes unlimited overseas hospital and medical expense cover1.
To activate this offer, simply enter your travel details. For trips longer than 2 weeks, just pay the difference for the additional days. You also have the option to upgrade to comprehensive cover."
.. there are some more conditions, and they are clear that its medical only. But, better than a kick in the nuts. You can choose to take it up and chance it, or go and buy comprehensive (or other) insurance.
I've just checked this against Amex travel insurance. 7 days in Japan in May, 2 adults, 2 children.
Medibank : $135.30 (after Medibank's discount), $250 excess
Amex : $112.00, $200 excess.
I've used Amex travel before, had to claim twice already, and no problems.
No deal from me, OP.
We just had a complex and lengthy claim with them. They eventually came to the party but my experience with them was that their attitude towards customer service is appalling, including ignoring our phone calls and emails. It made a stressful situation much worse than it needed to be.
I'm not sure if this is a rant or a warning, I'll delete if needs be.
Any recommendations for other travel insurance?
How are their prices though compared to other insurers ?
