I've been using this since the Amiga. GPSoft are currently having their holidays sale and purchases and upgrades are all 40% off. One of the (if not, the) best file manager programs for Windows.

There are far too many features to list them all here, but to name a few:

  • Single or dual file displays, with single or dual trees, make navigating and manipulating files a breeze
  • Folder tabs let you keep multiple folders open and switch quickly between them
  • Unique Explorer Replacement mode provides a full replacement for Windows Explorer
  • Integrated viewer pane lets you preview many common image and document file formats
  • View and edit file metadata (EXIF, MP3, PDF, etc)
  • Sorting, grouping, filtering and searching has never been easier
  • Color code or assign status icons, star ratings, tags and descriptions to your files and folders to make them easier to find
  • Batch renaming including easy-to-use keyboard macros, and the option for a fully scripted rename using metadata
  • Support for FTP, Zip, 7-Zip, RAR and many other archive formats
  • Access content on portable devices like phones, tablets and cameras
  • Built-in tools including synchronize, duplicate file finder, image converter and uploader and more

I am still pissed off that I missed the activation date of Directory Opus when it was bundled by HumbleBundle
GPSoft won't let me activate it, was just a few days late

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273534

    Light: $29.40 Single machine licence
Pro Single: $53.40 Single machine licence plus one personal laptop
Pro Dual: $77.40 Two machine licence plus one personal laptop
Pro 5 pack: $149.40 Five machine licence plus one personal laptop

Pretty tight rules for windows explorer replacement

  • Vendor in title please.

  • Would be worth giving a short mention of what the product actually does in the description.

    • Fair enough… I just added some details to the post. Someone else has added the vendor to the title for me.

I couldn't work without this program any more. A lot of people think "meh, why would you pay for this, Windows Explorer is fine," and for most people that's true. But if your work involves managing dozens or hundreds of files at a time, bulk renaming, creating document registers etc, do yourself a favour and try it.

    No longer supporting Amiga?

OP, you should mention it's made by Aussies, from QLD if I remember correctly.

      yeah, office in Paddington.

    • Good point Kahn. Jonathan Potter used to live near me down in Adelaide back in the Amiga days. That's how I discovered DOpus in the first place.

    “Click thumbnails to embiggen”
    It’s a perfectly cromulent word!

Holy Crap. Greg Perry is still around doing software? I bought GPTerm from him at an Amiga computer show in the eighties. The days before ip networks…

    • Yep he ported Dopus from the Amiga to Windows and hasn't missed a beat since. I also bought this off him on the Amiga.

      • Yep he ported Dopus

weed was easy to get, at the time?

  • Looks impressive.

Beyond my needs but +1 for a good piece of software.

If you live in Australia, price does not include GST. So you need to add 10%.

So here are the prices after GST has been added.
    Light: $32.34
    Pro Single: $58.74
    Pro Dual: $85.14
    Pro 5 pack: $164.34

After you fill in the form, it will go to another page where the total is on the last line.
Really easy to miss if you don't pay attention and just hit Order.

I wonder if you can just put an overseas address to get around GST, not that I would condone tax evasion.

  • Awesome software, love it.

  • I prefer "Total Commander" augmented with various plugins, but it is good to have choice. Anything is superior to Window inbuilt file management.

It's $26.40 AU to upgrade a light version (eg Humble Bundle version) to a Pro licence for 1 machine.
