You can find those, and many other classical books, free and legal from a number of sites (can't recall them now, but I have bookmarked at least two of such sites on my PC).

      • Probably google books has them for free.

        Just mentioning.

A couple of Leo Tolstoy ebooks for free also with this offer.

Link for all the books under $5 in the business and management category: https://www.booktopia.com.au/ebooks/non-fiction-books/busine…

        Buying an ebook - $0
Killing the environment to read it - priceless

        • Killing the environment to read it - priceless

Meh. Who needs an environment anyway?

        • What’s worse, recycled paper.

Or all the finite resources used to manufacture the device you read it from

          • @stickymoo: We just need some supernova to mine.

  • Hope they don't cancel all of my orders!

    • Ebooks are instant download.

      Download them before they do

      • how to download? the files I downloaded are only 2KB in size… thanks

      • Are they pdf or do you need some weird app that I will delete after 12 months?

I still use an old Kindle Keyboard because I prefer reading on e-ink.

For the benefit of anyone else who's an old fuddy duddy like me…

Booktopia delivers the books using ADE (Adobe Digital Editions). Newer versions of ADE use DRM (digital rights management) that doesn't appear to have been broken yet.

Therefore, install ADE 2.0.1 from https://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/downloads.html.

Note: if you've previously used a newer version of ADE on your computer you'll need to remove the previous authorisations using these instructions.

For your convenience direct ADE 2.0.1 downloads: Mac / PC

Install it, run it, login using your Booktopia details, and download your books.

You can then use Calibre (ebook reader) with the DeDRM plugin to convert .epub to .mobi (Kindle supports MOBI but not EPUB).

    • $4 doesn’t feel like a bargain anymore.

      • +1

Hahaha I have to agree. As I was doing the above dance I pondered if this was really worth $5 saving.

But then I thought of all the books I could buy… until Booktopia killed the code. Doh!

  • +1

    Cheers OP.
Awesome that the Shipster free postage over $25 is based on the order value before you input the discount code.
Eg $25 - $5 code still equals free postage on $20 order.

  • Expired? I get 'invalid code'

    • 1.5 hrs and the deal is still active. Is the Ozbargain xmas party on tonight?

  • Same for me, invalid code now.

  • Yeah i think its expired now

  • +4

Not only is the code not working any more, but the books I 'purchased' earlier now also seem to be gone from my eBooks list in my account.

    • +1

Can confirm a book I purchased 3 hours ago, downloaded, is now gone from my eBooks list.

      • Did you keep the download?

        • +1

          Yup!

Per my above comment, already converted to MOBI and on my Kindle.

Unfortunately I only bought one book to test the process, was gonna go back and buy more when I had time to browse. Damn. :)

          • @goosmurf: Ha, nice one man

          • +3

@goosmurf: sorry to hear that man, kudos to your comment on how to d/l the books above. if it wasnt for you posting that comment u might have gotten ur books… thank you!

    • There’s was 3-4 books I really wanted

But obviously not enough to take my own advice & download them before they retracted the books.

I even payed for the barefoot investor & that’s gone too

      • did they refund you the money?

  • i learnt from the last booktopia deal to buy quickly (missed out last time with the HCF deal because I waited).
    Thanks OP!

NOOOOOOOo I lost all my books TT______TT all those thrillersssss

    • -1

i feel for ya. My OCD kicked in and I was browsing thru all categories and buying ebooks
      half an hour later,I realised:

i hate DRM'ed stuff, its painful just to read/open them
the store may cancel all my orders

ps: does this mean Booktopia is Ozbargain Public Enemy #1? Mass boycott and backlash on their Facebook page?

      • +3

        I still feel so sad… so… sad….

  • I am trying to order two paperback books but the code is saying it is invalid. Has it expired?

  • I got one ebook earlier, downloaded it and it’s now in the library. Will it still get removed?

    • Yes. That is how they roll'd.

  • Glad I downloaded the 7 books I got (same even paid for) and added them in calibre.

    • All orders are showing as cancelled. Even the one which I paid for (about $12 ) shows as cancelled and still says
"This item has been cancelled from your order. As you were not charged, no refund is required. "

      • +1

Yeah I paid for some books too.
Hope they provide a refund !!

        • Raise hell if you paid and they just houdini-ed your order and your money

        • The ones I paid for have re-appeared.

  • I hope they refund what I paid.

    • did you end up getting a refund?
