Cheapest Way to Replace a Tag Heuer Battery in Melbourne

Hi all, my Tag has died and I've walked into shops that sell Tags and the price I've been quoted range between $190 - $280. To replace my battery and to pressure seal/check. I've previously done this in Adelaide once where there's a guy with all the equipment and he does it in front of you for $110 bucks approx.

I need to find one in Melbourne. Anyone has any recommendation?

I just did my wife's Tag about 2 weeks ago for $25. I did my Tag Carrera about 2 years ago for $25? Its a watchmaker called Handy Jewellery in the Vermont South Shopping Center. Took him about 15 mins but he had a job before me.

    • Hi bacca61. Does that include pressure & seal check?

    • thanks, near my suburb and I am going to pay this shop a visit.

    • Just paid Robert a visit. Fixed my watch and told him about OzB.

      • I agree. Robert replaced my Tag battery and the seal for $30. This was just 2 weeks ago at Handy Jewellery in Vermont South Shopping Centre

103 Russell St in City - Bob Shao. I do all my watch battery replacements there. Not sure if he does pressure testing but he would be able to tell you where to go.

    • yes this guy.

  • Which suburb? If you're in the North I can recommend a shop that does it for $10-$20.
This is only for a battery change. No need for pressure check and seal change.

    • Glen Waverly areas so Vermont shop suggested above will be good. Which suburb is this in the north?

  • Watch repair places in shopping centres have always charged me about $40-50 for a battery replacement and pressure test for my Seiko, usually doing the job within an hour.

Why should it cost five times that much for the exact same job just because your watch is branded Tag Heuer? That's just ridiculous.

    • I know right.. just dumb as a result I have not been wearing a watch for months now.

  • Robert replaced my Tag battery and the seal for $30. This was just 2 weeks ago at Handy Jewellery in Vermont South Shopping Centre

    • he just moved house. Happy with service?

  • For my 10 yr old TAG, I called Tag's company service-line and they quoted me $150 for battery replacement with Seal, i searched online and found this Watchmaker on OZbargain site, went there he did exactly same battery replacement with seal in only $35, good professional technician. Highly recommended. His name is ..Robert @ Handy Jewelry Shop, Vermont South.

    • Yeah I told him about OzB. Price seems to have gone up!

  • Robert was extremely friendly and professional. I had replace my battery for $35 and pressurized. If you go to Tag Hueuer it would be over 200 to 300, you have to make a booking, and wait 2 weeks to get your watch back…

Handy Jewellery Vermont South Shopping Center, small, just wonder in you will see it.

Wouldn’t recommend giving expensive watches like Tag Heuer, Omega, etc here for battery replacement. Gave mine and really regret it as it’s FILLED with SCRATCHES at the back even after I confirmed with him initially before giving and he assured me he has all the machines and no scratches will come. When I confronted he made it sound like it’s not a big deal and it’s normal to get scratches while changing batteries.
Not worth it for expensive watches.

  • I’m definitely going to try the guy in Vermont. I drove all the way to Chadstone from Ringwood (because Tag Heur told me I had to take it to the store for a battery change), only to be told by the store person it would need to be sent to Sydney for 4-6 weeks and it was going to cost me a minimum of $180. I just received the quote by email and they want to charge me $360 to pull the whole thing apart and do an ultrasonic clean etc etc. All I want is a new battery! I feel like I’ve been mugged !!!

  • I took my Tag to Handy Jewellery in Vermont South shopping centre and he did a great job replacing the battery. No sratches or marks and he checked the condition of the seal. All for $40 and he completed it in 30 mins.
