Condition and details Same the previous deal

  • why or when should i do this ideally? (is it specific to a state)

    • +1

It is specific to Melbourne as we operate only here

  • Is this price including the Victorian government rebates the Andrews Govt announced recently?

Do you guys have a good deal for a house that doesn't need such a large system?

    • +1

Hi, you will still be able to VIC rebate on top of this. So effectively the out of pocket would be about $3474.

Please keep in mind that the Govt rebate is for the end customer. This means you would pay us $5699 and apply for the rebate and get back $2225 from the Govt based on your eligibility.

Yes we do euqlly good deals for smaller system. It starts from $5000 for a 15 panel system and Fronius inverter.

    • Fit the biggest system you can.

  • What is your installation area you cover? Post code 3953?

    • Might cost you a bit more for the travel. Pls PM me the address . I can check and get back.

  • Interested. Please Pm. Thanks!

    • Just PMed you!!

  • -2

Doesn't sound like a good deal to me, my mate just got a 6kw system installed on a double story house for $2200 on Saturday

Single story is a few hundred cheaper from what he told me

    • +2

The devil is in the detail. What panels and what inverter?

      • -5

I don't know I didn't get it installed. I don't see what's such a big deal, 6kw system, lifetime warranty on install and 25 years on panels/inverter if I remember correctly.

Can you tell me why this setup cost what it costs?

        • a long warranty means nothing if the company packs up shop in australia. even worse when their products experience a high failure rate. so it's not if but when.

a lot of people got burnt by cheap chinese solar gear first time around with the last national govt solar subsidy.

          • -3

@[Deactivated]: And when this company packs up shop, it's the same s""t in the end except it's costing you more $$$

        • There is no 25 year warranty on inverter /panel… In particular for $2200

        • +1

I'd suggest you look at the detail.
The 25 year "warranty" is a performance "guarantee".
What is the definition of "lifetime". I know VWs definition of "lifetime fill" is 8 years.

The Fronius inverter would rate up in the top quartile of quality.
The Longi panels are about mid-range of the panels that you would actually consider fitting. (ie: they aren't entry level good)

For $2.2k I doubt your mate got good panels (was this before or after the Vic Gov't rebate?). They definitely wouldn't be PERC. His inverter would also be cheap and I'd guess he'll be using his 5 year warranty at least once.

I'd suggest you have a read here.
          https://www.solarquotes.com.au/solar101.html

    • Plus, is this offer available to everyone or a 'mates rates' deal? 6kW inverter, or actually 6kW of panels? Some installers are sneaky.

      • -1

It's to everyone not mates rates or special discounts blah blah

  • +1

I got 6.6 kW system with csun 300w panel and goodwe invertor for 3800$. 25year warranty on panels and 5year on inverter. To be installed in coming days

    • According to solar quotes, your panel isn't in the recommended list and inverter in the cheap end.

      • Hi you seem knowledgeable.

whats a decent setup for single storey house for 6 ppl?

i have no idea how much kW is needed.

Didnt realise solar prices have come down so much. i get like a 6-900$ quarterly bill depending on seasons (cooling and heating for summer/winter)

thats $3k annually! if solar can cover the majority of my energy costs then a $6k setup would be amortised in just 2 years! holy cow

i dont suppose NSW has rebates

    • Is that after rebate?

      • Before

        • What's the cost after?

    • That's some pretty low end gear.

At least the posted system has a quality inverter.

    • +1

@ndeo Performance warranty vs warranty please make sure you understand the difference

  • Hi OP, I'm interested in a 4-5kw setup (with the same panels/inverter (I don't think I can fit more on my roof, do you have a deal on that too?

    Thanks

    • Absolutely. PM me the details of your address etc and we can work out a deal for you for installkng the same brands

  • Will you be able to add 2 panels to my existing setup?

    • Depends on your setup and what are it's limitations. PM me the details and I can have a look

  • What are the options and costs for batteries, either installed with the panels or later?

    Do you cover 3752?

    • +1

Hi, you could use any AC coupled battery like Tesla powerwall 2. But our suggestion would be to stay away form batteries at themoment since they are way too pricey and doesn't add up financially in terms of recovering the cost.

Yes we cover south morang and nearby

  • +1

Just give me the invoice so i can claim the rebate

    winnnning!

    • Invoice is just one of the documents.. I'm sure ppl would have created fake ones if no other docs were required 😀

      • They where doing fake [nil] conversions with the lpg rebate, and splitting the rebate from govco……just saying

  • would the Inverter work together with batteries?

    • It will work with any AC coupled battery like Tesla powerwall 2

  • Would this replace an evaporative cooler on the roof?

    • No. The evaporative cooler will stay there. We will place the panels around it.

  • +1

I just wanted to say I used these guys and installed the same system on offer here ~3 weeks ago during the last deal. These guys are very professional and the completed job was very clean. They arranged everything from start to the end (pre-approval, post-inspection, emailing my retailer, etc…) and gave me all the documents I needed to claim the rebate (this cannot be done by the installer). I would recommend to check these guys out if you intend to get a system installed.

FYI I've been uploading the stats to pvoutput since Day 1 and the best I could get from the system was just over 43kWh/day, worst was close to 8kWh/day.

    • Thanks Chewkl.

  • Fronius 5.0-1 or Fronius 5.0-1 AU - probably worth knowing if you're going to load it up with panels…

    • Can you please quickly explain in layman's terms? I read that link but didn't really get closer to understanding.

  • Would you go as far as Warrnambool(3280), if so what would be the extra travel cost
    Thanks

  • Does anyone know how / where to check how many rebates are left? From what I understand the Vic government solar rebates were limited to first 24k applications?

    • Most of the headlines say 650k of homes?

    • The last i checked with them, they said they will run out by mid Jan but no one has the accurate numbers. The 24k applicants is the first phase of money allocated before the elections.. Total scheme was for $650k houses in VIC. With the Labour Govt back, it is said more money will be allocated once this runs out

      • Thanks

  • Hi op, potentially interested. Can you PM me? Thanks.

  • I PMed yesterday. Whats next step?
I sms and called on mobile number on your website. No answer.

    • Hi, Replied to your PM. You must have reached out to Ash . He was installing today and hence wouldn't be available on calls .

  • thank you, i thought so, you guys must be busy.

  • I looked at the CEC accredited providers list and Sparkin is not listed, does this mean it will not qualify for the VIC rebate?

  • Any good deals going for Sydney metro?

  • Can you please confirm which model of the Fronius 5KW model it is? If it is the AU version, does that mean it's limited to 4.8kw not 5kw (so less power generation)?

Can this have two sets of strings into it - ie if I put some panels on east and some on west? What is the min/max panels on each string? Will each string work independently of each other, ie if east panels are shaded, won't affect west panels?

Is it extra to install the inverter in the garage for shading? (might add 20m of run compared to next to meter box), and if so, would it be done with thicker cable to reduce losses?

  • how do I jump on board for this deal?

    • Just PM us…

  • good luck getting 'on board' . my take is they are fully committed
No response for a firm price after a week.

    • Sorry Crozza. We endevour to respond as quick as possible and lot of customers who have come through this Ozbargain deal have already scheduled their install for this week and even finished install.

I tried finding you on our PMs or emails but couldn't locate your query. Could you please PM me and I will get back asap.

      Cheers
      V

      • did not come thru this deal.
started via whirlpool as a hint to you, but please keep this community updated as to reason[s] why no firm price can be forthcoming

        • +1

I did reply back to your PM on whirpool and gave you my details asking you to contact me. I haven't received any reply back from you .

We have been forthcoming unlike other vendors, stating the exact cost and the cost of extras and have gone only by that till now.

I'm sure there are always things to improve and we take the feedback positively and seriously. In this instance I'm not able able to see any thing pending on our side.

Feel free to call me on 0449237187 . Happy to discuss

          Cheers

Thanks Ian. WIll get back to you in a day's time.

    maybe this

    • Just ring the bloke and have a chat instead of over complicating matters through your keyboard. They seem forthcoming enough and have even left a contact number.

      • thanks highon,
UM, contact is a two way street, they have my number and are free to chat anytime- in the end it would be good to get a written quotation.
If they decline for whatever reason, no problem.

They will be forthcoming when a price and attached spec is provided, until then. ??
Sorry if I have inadvertently broken the rules here, just thought it was a /forum

I note and appreciate that they have "been forthcoming unlike other vendors, stating the exact cost and the cost of extras and have gone only by that till now."

Implementing this is where I/we are stuck. Anyone thinks 10 days is too short a time, then I am wrong.

    • Now I know whom I'm talking to you.

Your case being a special case needing a not so common mount brackets needed more info from the installation team before I could quote.

All other installs I can quote straight away but not this.

In continuation. I also sent you the solar provider statement to start the rebate process so that any delay will get offset by that and I also wrote to you on 6th December saying I'm awaiting inputs and would need a couple of days and even reminded you about the provider statement and asked you to pls proceed with that so you don't lose time.

All this happened on Thursday and you are raising this on Monday Ian. The latest I heard from them was to see if you have more pics . I suggested a site visit is better and was gonna come back once I get the slot.

You wanted to proceed only after the confirmation of the eligibility from VIC solar and hence I don't see how you lost time

Given I have constantly kept you informed as much as I could, I guess I have given you a good service. Apologies if it dint meet your expectations.

      Will try and improve

      Cheers
      V

  • Appreciated your quick reply.
Yes, your comment on solar rebate is correct. Therefore, not signing prior to agreement on terms.
I understand my flat colorbond trimdek profile roof is not suited to the standard 'screw thru existing screwhole' roof, but it is a simple substitution of one bracket for another. I can give you the supplier details if I have not already.
As highon says, probably not the way to go banging on about it here.
    Look forward to firm price.

  • Got this system installed to my house earlier this week. The guys are professional, quick response, and very tidy after the installation process. They also take care of everything, they gave the solar statement (to apply for the solar rebate) before the installation so I can get the application process started.

I also got a few other quotes from other installers, so I can confirm that the price are decent. Mostly, with other providers we have to wait for at least 1-2months until get the system installed. With sparkinenergy I got it within a week after contacting them. The installation is fairly quick since 3-4 people came during the installation date.

    Thumbs up.

    • +1

Did the guys come out to visit before installing? I'm worried about hidden charges or adjustments to that price of this deal if they deem additional work needed or what not?

Can you post some photos of the work? Were they flexible about where you may want to install the inverter?

I'm just a bit nervous about these guys given 1 review on solar quotes compared to hundreds with other installers. Makes me wonder how you can get it installed so quickly, when other installers are booked solid for months - ie why is this company not so busy?

      • I've been discussing the deal for my house, back and forward via SMS with Vig.
Yesterday I requested a quote outlaying the expected costs, including an proposed outlay of panels on my roof and just waiting for this to come through before I do anything else.

As soon as I get something back, I'll update here and based on that quote, I'll decide what to do next between this and another deal.

      • Valid concerns. Will try to answer them below

        1. Quotes given are final. No extras ,hidden cost. There are instances where we had to cancel the second install of the day cos the first one was complicated than we thought. Took nearly 10 hours of work. Still don't charge an extra cent.

        2. We are flexible of the location of the inverter. I have always advised the customer to have a chat with guys when they come to get a clear understanding .

        3. Many companies that you see in solar quotes are marketing companies. They sub contract it to people like us to do the install. We do subbie work for about 4 such companies. Our brand n install comes first. So we only take subbie jobs when we dont have our own install. And all they need is a day's notice. We are building our brand.

Single review on solar quotes. Will chase up our customers to write it there too

        • No hidden cost at all, when I contacted him the first time, he asked me for a few photos regarding my electricity meter and other required information. He clearly mentioned that there might be extra cost if it's a double story/outside 40km from CBD, etc in the previous thread.

          • @cubestreamer: Just to update, I was provided with an official quote covering all equipment in this deal for my house approx 1 week ago.

Vig sent through the paperwork to start the solar rebate process, as promised after the deposit was paid.

Installation to happen early Jan. All has been smooth so far and Vig has been excellent with information and very patient with all of my questions.

I'll update once the system is installed and how I'm finding the system along the way.

  • +1

Also now looking Sparkinenergy at Present, and waiting for written Quote.
Appear to be on the Ball.
Not sure if V is one of the full team or a front guy (no offence), doing well with my barrage of questions back and forth
    More to come I guess.

Would like to see a few links of Previous installs if available

  • Also got my Quote, as requested, all good

  • Here's an update and comment I just posted on Google reviews for these guys. Edited to reference OzBargain. I realise the deal here has finished, however if other deals come up from them, it might be of help.

Thank you to the entire team at Sparkin Energy, you have been awesome. I've done some comprehensive homework and reviews about different solar systems and providers over the past 3 months. Just when I thought I had enough information and was ready to decide on an inverter and panel type/model, I would find something else to consider and ultimately distract from my decision to go ahead.

Finally just before Christmas 2018, what seemed like a too good to be true deal came up on OzBargain, which I looked more closely at. After getting some more quotes and further solar company discussions on like/same products, I settled on Sparkin Energy to do the job.

From all of the quotes I'd received, Sparkin were much better for quality of panel and inverter models, when compared price for price of other companies. When comparing like prices, the panel and inverters were of lesser quality (not terrible, perhaps just older) from other companies than the entire deal from Sparkin.

Vig has been honest and full of information, he answered heaps of my questions and some concerns I had due to the size, positioning and layout of my roof. He's replied to lots of calls and emails, both before I decided and after I put the install request in. The initial solar rebate paperwork was provided as promised, which I kicked off the process with Solar Vic.

Ash and his team arrived early, discussed the best way to proceed and did an awesome job installing on our double story house. They were helpful, worked hard and answered lots more questions I had about the system. The workmanship is excellent and of high quality, the panels look modern and have been laid out well to gain as much sun throughout the year.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested and even though I had some doubts initially, they set me straight with helpful information and the final product.

    Thank you guys!!

I'll update on this thread with anything else related to my solar system over time and happy to answer any questions people have.

    • what is their best contact? Have tried contacting via ozb but they don't seem very active.

    • Thanks For the details review. Appreciate it

  • Very Busy I guess,
They are just doing mine as I type:

    • What's the best way to contact them? Email?

  • Sorry Guys. Havent been on Ozbargian for a while after i expired the deal.

Please feel free to contact me on 0449237187 or [email protected].

Our current prices for the same system is $5999. The increase is attributed to the reduction in STCs that have taken effect from 1st Jan
