  Aldi occasionally have inexpensive bikes that seem reasonable quality.

  The Aldi ones are cheap (under $100 each) but REALLY badly set up… the brakes, etc are all adjusted really badly. And they are HEAVY!

  If you buy one, allow a few hours to fix up the assembly, grease the brake cables, etc.

  check catalogues of kmart, big w and target, they will usually have bikes on sale

  2 quality bikes might be a stretch at 300, maybe second hand like ebay otherwise new kamrt/target is your friend.

  Quality bikes usually start at 500-600, for one with good gears, frame and brakes etc

  If you plan on riding 10km a day, it might be a better idea to buy a better quality bike 2nd hand. From experience, riding a cheap bike everyday is frustrating, and you will probably end up upgrading to something better very quickly.
  I would go to a bike shop and try a few, see what size bike works best for you. Then look through ebay, gumtree etc until you find quality, used bikes that are the right fit for you.

  I think i paid around $450 for my giant boulder. 5 years later its still going strong. All my friends who have BigW bikes have issues repairing them if something apart from a puncture goes wrong.

  Disc breaks are amazing, although very sensitive. I've impaled my crotch on the headset a few times. I'd never go back to rubber breaks again.

  It depends where you're parking it at night. If its in a garage/lockup shed, i'd be inclined to get a good bike. If its left outside and is likely to get kicked by drunks, a bigw bike might be more appropiate.

  looks like 2nd hand is the way to go, where can i find 2nd hand bike? i just want one that i can ride, do not need to be fast or light, but must be safe with very bright light. just for exercise purpose.
