TP-Link HS110 Wi-Fi Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring $39.00 + Delivery @ Mwave

130

Not the cheapest they have been but still better than current prices on eBay.

This smart plug includes energy monitoring which is great for the Christmas lights!

Got this price matched at Officeworks last night at $37.05 - no questions asked

    • Is it good?

    • I went to officeworks as well, but their price match includes delivery fee if there is no pick up in the state, they offered 46 each to me.

It is being offered as a bundle with a free Google Home Mini (or a Google mini with a free smart plug, look at it how you like) at Big W for $64. That's just $25 extra for a Google mini compared to this deal, which is pretty good. They don't say what model smart switch it is, but based on the images on the ad and on TV, it comes with a grey disc surrounding the outlet pins, which indicate it is a HS100 (no power monitoring). The HS110 with power monitoring has a white disc around the output socket.

  • Is this compliant with Australian Standards?

    • +2

Techlife Australia approved, Officeworks stocks it, and it is listed on TP-Link Support page with an (AU) product code. I cannot find the compliance certificate but a good chance it is safe to use.

    • It has a c-tick logo on the back, so I'd say so. It's a pretty good sign that the big bricks and mortar stores are selling them, so it is highly likely, as they would check before stocking them. Also the pins are insulated half way along the active and neutral. The unapproved/made for China products will have a solid metal pin like we used to have. If they went to the trouble to comply with that part of the law, they are likely to follow it all the way through.

  • Isnt the Xiaomo smart outlet a better option at 26$ - https://www.zapals.com/xiaomi-mi-smart-power-strip-6-sockets…

    ofc not aussie standard certified

    • 3 China (reversed AU) sockets and 6 US sockets?

    • +2

Wouldn't chance my electronics on that unless someone can verify it is up to Australian safety protocols and standards.

      Rip TV.

      Rip pc.

      Rip sound system.

      • Xiaomi opened up shop in the UK, hopefully the do it here too and we get certification then

      • Actually I would be more worried about fire than killing devices directly.

    • can you turn off things independently of all 6 sockets or just all at once on this?

      • All at once sadly

  • What a rip off, minimum fee for delivery is $12.95, then they want you to pay an extra $2.95 for some form of insurance, or priority assistance if the item is lost/damaged, then they want you to pay an extra 2% for paypal.

I was going to buy a couple, but after all the extra fees they charge, just to do business with them, and conditions they impose, you'd have to be totally desperate to buy from them.

    I cancelled the purchase.

I agree, however there's always free pickup, but more so, simply use the deal for price beat at Officeworks.

      • I'm going to try at Brisbane store, but will most likely want to include postage.

  • Good price need a few of these.

But I can wait for when they are $30 each delivered.

    • There are two models: HS100 & HS110. The cheaper model HS100 has been as low as $20 and never repeated. It only has a switch.

  • What are people using these for?

    • I will personally use it on my fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and an outlet in my bedroom that pretty much has my whole pc and speaker setup, fan and chargers etc.

The Bluetooth on/off functionality will be nice for ease of access remote switching but am mostly interested in the energy usage data monitoring to see how much energy my devices use.

      • Who turns their fridge on and off?

        • Oh just using it for the energy monitoring not the Bluetooth on and off for that.

Honestly I don't think I will use the Bluetooth function much just the energy monitoring.

    • Could use it to turn lights on/off when you are on holiday to make it looks like someone is at home.

    • I have 2 x HS100 connected to lamps in the house. I just purchased 2 x HS110 for TV and Xmas lights. I want to use one on the TV to allow me to setup as a timer to prevent the kids getting up too early and watching TV on school mornings.

I have two set up for Christmas lights now. I say 'Hey Google, its Christmas' and my outside lights come on, the Christmas tree comes on and Christmas songs play.

        The little things hey! :D

Not sure what model, but $64 combo any good?

I posted above. It is a HS100. I think it's good value and a good way into home automation for the beginner. You can add more switches and controllers later if you like it. Would make good Christmas presents I think.

      • Ah that you did!! I only posted as the commercial came on tv haha.

    • Very nice find but can't tell if it is the hs100 (just Bluetooth functionality) or hs110 (Bluetooth and energy monitoring).

  • Out of stock and back to $59
